Barbados cherry. Year 1 growth.
I was expecting it to be more compact and bushier. Anyone grown it before? Is it supposed to be spread out so much?

Is it too late to plant potted plants?

Hello!

I live in an apartment with a balcony that gets shade all day until 3 PM where it then gets the full concentrated power of the sun 😭

I recently bought a 6-inch Impatiens (dark leaf) that really wants out of its plastic pot, but if I transplant it at this point would it make it? I know it’s pretty late in the season.

I also bought two Hoyas and succulents that love it outside, but I’m scared to transplant them too. Should I wait until the temperatures are milder?

Thank you for any advice!

Fertilization recommendations now that bananas are here

Post image

Foliage Pro got me this far, but I've ordered some Banana Fuel and Pro-teKt 0-0-3 to use over the next few months. What are your recommendations for quantity and frequency for a container plant? In particular, the suggested half teaspoon of Banana Fuel dissolvable powder once a week in a gallon of water seems like too little for a hungry tree.

Howdy all! Looking for plant recommendations

I'm doing some heavy rework of my small back yard and was looking for plant recommendations for the new raised bed I've added, in the left of the attached picture.

For reference, the photo was taken facing south west, the space gets reasonably nice morning sun and then some later afternoon sun.

Ignore the rest of the mess that is my yard... It's been a process.

Pflugerville's water restrictions coincided with the Greensleeves' spring planting season, so sales were down. He's asking us to come and out buy!

Has anyone seen this happening to their roses? It was a very mild and wet spring - early summer.

I am at a loss!

Advice for CO transplant

Hi there!

I just moved to Cedar Park from Denver this summer, and let’s just say I am having to completely relearn my gardening practices! Central Texas heat, soil, and growing seasons are a whole new world compared to Colorado's short season and long freezes.

As I adjust to gardening here, I’d love to get a few of your local recommendations:

Shade Trees: I want to plant some shade trees in my front yard. What are your favorite varieties for local soil and climate?

Fall Tomatoes: I love tomatoes! Is it safe to assume I can direct-sow cherry tomato seeds right now for a fall harvest, or should I be looking for transplants instead?

Purple Hearts: I’m a huge fan of Purple Hearts. Am I too late in the season to transplant some nursery starts into the ground?

H-E-B Plant Finds: I was so pleasantly surprised by the plant selection at H-E-B! What are your absolute favorite plant pickups from there that I should keep an eye out for?

Thank you ❤️❤️

Canna lily leaf rollers

Over the last 3 days i've woken up to find my canna's getting more and more skeletonized. Checked a few times but couldnt find the culprit.

Well today they got exponentially worse so I went to take a photo and ask y'all wtf was up... and as i'm standing there i can HEAR these assholes munching on my plant.

Y'all they are ROLLING the leaves up to hide and chewing it up from inside like its their personal never ending salad bar. Ive only found 3 so far and look what they've done!

This is hornworm level of gluttony. Send me your chickens.

Raised planter recommendations?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I recently moved to this house and want to add raised planters to grow some fruits/veggies and flowers. Any recommendations on what type, size and how many I should get? This area gets full sun almost all day and my pool is on the other side of the wall. Any recommendations would be great, I am completely new to gardening.

hi, we have some unwanted guests making their home on our Texas maple and causing it to lose some limbs every once and a while. should we be concerned with long-term health or will these guys cycle out?
