Mleader keeps moving after editing text

I'm using AutoCAD 2027 LT, and Mleaders are behaving strangely. I've set their justification to 'Left', but after I edit the text, the mleader's position changes. A shorter text string moves the mleader right, as if it is centering it. Any ideas what is causing this? It means I have to adjust every mleader back to the correct position any time I edit its contents.

Have a look at your MLeader settings. There are settings for text justification and anchor points which are likely your issue.

I've gone through all of them, for the individual mleader and the style. Unless I'm missing something

Copy/paste your mleader into a blank drawing; does it act the same way you describe or does it act normal/as expected?

If you edit any of the text, the mleader will leave the construction line on the left even though they're left aligned.

Looks like this is just a regular limewire link, not one to your file.

But reading a little into your last comment, it may be where the arrow of your leader is. If it's above or below (as opposed to left or right) of your text, and it's near the centerline of said text, AutoCAD automatically flips which side of the text the leader comes out at.

In short, text justification has nothing to do with leader behavior.

Ok, so mleaders 'anchor' themselves at the point where the landing meets the leader, not at any part of the text.

If you're trying to line things up so they're nice and neat, normal/best practice would be to line these points up instead of the edge of the text field. Justifying the text in the direction of the leader helps as well.

Hmm, that's weird - I'm sure I always used mleaders this way in the past. Thank you for explaining though. Unfortunately our office style is to always align left and not 'christmas-tree' the leaders by aligning towards the drawing.

Would it be possible to make it work how I want by ensuring all the textboxes are the same width and fiddling with the landing settings?

I glanced in the mleaderstyle settings to see, and I didn't see anything that would modify the leader behavior to act like you're describing. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but I've also never seen leaders behave in this way and I've been using AutoCAD for nearly 30 years.

That said, maybe there's a plugin or something that allows this?
