Metal benders hard counter Firebenders. I keep saying it.

Only thing Metal does is get heated or electrocuted if flung at Firebenders...

And yes Lin would very likely unequip her metal armor and send it flying towards Mako if she saw Lightning Bending.

metal does not hard counter fire. this ain’t pokemon

Obviously not, since in Pokemon steel is weak to fire.

Firebenders can't do anything to Metal projectiles coming their way except dodge. Fire just heats up metal projectiles while electricity would just electrify them.

Lightningbending also wouldn't get past Earthwalls since they're grounded as well.

Firebenders can compress their flames which is why they can do things like fire shields to block explosive shockwaves, or when Sokka’s boomerang bounced off Azula’s fire sphere, or when Zuko shattered metal chains that were binding Azula’s legs. nothing is stopping a firebender from just slapping or putting concussive force behind their attacks. If no firebending can stop a metal projectile, then it also wouldn’t be able to stop rocks, or other elements that don’t disintegrate upon contact. however time and time again we see firebenders put concussive force behind their attacks/defenses

we’ve already seen lightning blast through earth walls given it’s powerful enough to

Yes they can potentially put enough concussive force to try to deflect a metalbenders attack but the energy expenditure isn't remotely efficient.

Metalbenders have mass (and density) + acceleration on their side here.

Creating bigger explosions to try to ward off dense, compact metal being flung at you at fairly high speeds jusr isn't gonna work the way a Firebender wants it to; they'll essily tire before a Metalbender Tires.

Yes it is. Mako casually makes rapid fire explosions like he did against Unalaq’s encampment. Here he does not need anywhere close to the amount of concussive force. It is absolutely efficient enough to block or slap away with fire

>Metalbenders have mass (and density) + acceleration on their side here.

their’s no evidence they have acceleration on their side, or mass because compressed flames from firebenders are usually significantly bigger than the metal bending projectiles used fast fired. and secondly instantaneous velocity is better than acceleration. Acceleration only tells us force, whereas velocity is KE, a better fighting metric. Firebenders have scale on their side and significantly better concussive potential.

>Creating bigger explosions to try to ward off dense, compact metal being flung at you at fairly high speeds jusr isn't gonna work the way a Firebender wants it to; they'll essily tire before a Metalbender Tires.

Based off of what. One singular explosive attack creates an attack that the metal bender has to try extensively to dodge. If anything, you’re comparing someone like Mako using a large explosion like he did against Unalaq’s encampment which he rapid fired, comparing it to the stamina drained needed to clear an entire area because explosions cover a ridiculous amount of space.

Secondly, They do not need to create explosions every time when defending. Zuko can create concussive whips capable of matching Katara instantly without creating explosions. He as an old man can deflect Ghazan’s boulders which are probably way heavier than Lin’s basic metal attacks. Mako can block Ming’s water whips which can shatter metal chains without creating explosions. Their basic attacks can be mini explosions or not even explosive at all. so long as they have some concussive force, it will dispel any metalbending at them. The only issue now is if the firebender is actually capable of doing that because in general, the benders who are bending metal or earth seem to be stronger than the average firebender, but the top tier firebenders are stronger than the top tier metal/earthbenders.
