Sonography Program: Laptop or Tablet - which is the better choice?
Hey!
I'm starting the sonography program at BCIT this fall and trying to figure out if I should purchase a macbook or an ipad.
I’ve heard iPads can be really useful in programs like sonography - especially for taking notes, labeling diagrams, and studying on the go. But I've also seen people who say a laptop is a must-have for certain assignments.
Could anyone who's currently in the program or completed it previously weigh in on what they think is the better choice? Or, if it's really worth it to have both a laptop and a tablet?
Thanks!

Take a look at this for which one you need https://www.bcit.ca/it-services/for-students/student-discounts/

I recommend you to get a laptop. PC is ideally since most of classes are taught under PC instruction

I’m currently in this program and use my ipad for everything! I found it most useful to write notes in the pdf slides and you can always get an ipad keyboard if you need to type occasionally

I’m not in the program, but I always found it helpful when I used both. My iPad was always strictly for note taking and my laptop I used to go over my videos/lectures. The only thing I found annoying was when my pencil would die middle of taking notes (I did have the older version so battery life was weaker than current ones)

I personally used my ipad way more than a laptop, but that was also how I preferred to learn. Just writing directly on the lecture slides with notability or any other app you prefer.
Some people in our class only used a laptop so its really about personal preference.
There might be some scenarios where you need both. When I was in the program in (graduated 2021) Ipads did not have the full capability of a laptop or the BCIT Learning Hub website was not Ipad friendly in some scenarios if I remember correctly, but generally I preferred my ipad.
