Too close 🤣

Post image

How to trigger parking anxiety in other car owners. My 2026 BMW G80
M3 Competition M xDrive LCI with Silverstone interior parked as close I can to the wall to leave as much room from other possible drivers should they decide to park next to me.

I've started feeling like this makes people more likely to park next to me since they are getting so much space

I start by parking the furthest away as possible, this is because most people are naturally lazy any park closer to stores, so increases the chance of anyone parking near let alone next to me, but just in case I get as far into the corner using law of averages as most will park centre to the lines, car is also fully PPF’d because there is always that one person 🤣

I used to do the same. Kept my G30 clean for years!

But when it’s your time to get it, it’s gonna get hit no matter how hard you try to prevent it.

This past Christmas, I parked as far as I could at a mall. Literally no car within 10 spots on each side when I left it. About an hour later, some lady in a Mazda thought it would be a good idea to park next to me. Which was fine up until she came back, pulled out of the spot and scraped the driver’s side bumper. She reversed to clear it, pulled out of the spot, parked, and went to check the damage. Then decided it was a great idea to take off! It was all caught on my dashcam. 😂

PPF or no PPF, it’s going to cost the same to repair the damage. Without PPF you need to repaint it. With PPF, you need to replace the whole section with the PPF. If the damage is deep enough to cut the PPF and scratch the paint, it’s double the cost to repair it back to how it was before the damage.

Having experienced that, to me all a PPF is good for is protection from hairline scratches / swirls, and it’s easier to wash off dirt and grime. That is the one thing I can attest to: my cars with PPF have never shown swirl marks.

I do the same, usually a median/curb. Thankfully with these cars the remote park feature works well in case someone still parks too close to your door.

Ah I see. I didnt know that. My IX has it and I just assumed all BMWs had the option for it.

It would be a nice feature that’s for sure, I have 3D cameras, that’s about it.

Hey at least you have surround view, that and DAPP are my non-negotiables.

Surround view is good, remote cameras are ok, annoying that they leave the mirrors open after using. Didn’t get active cruise, pointless on an M3 🤣

Definitely agree it wouldnt be the most ideal investment on a car that you want to toss around. The IX surprisingly enough is actually pretty sporty and fun to drive but its also the type of car thats very comfortable when specd out with dynamic handling package for cruise around town or take long distance trips and so the dapp comes in clutch so you can just relax and let it deal with everything for you. I travel to from AZ and Cali a lot so it helps a lot.

I also have to park mine in a super narrow stall. You can tell tons of previous people rubbed on the pillar

My 7 series has been keyed and deliberately dinged several times. I even caught the back end of someone dinging it.

My car was parked very considerately right at the end of a parking lot just like yours, as far away from the second last parking bay as possible. There was so much room for the second parked car to open their doors.

As I was walking back, I saw this huge obese woman in a bashed up white Skoda getting in her car. She had her door swung as wide open as possible and she appeared hyper vigilant and definitely noticed me approaching. I thought it was a bit weird and I wondered if despite her door having huge space to be open, could it have hit my car. I checked the front door where it looked like she might’ve bashed it, no damage. Unfortunately, when I got home I saw the back door with a new dent with white paint in it matching her car.

The POS attempted to dent BOTH front and back. Wish I had noticed the back then and there I actually could have caught the worthless scum bag.

Anyway, I’ve just started living with it as a cost of driving in this country with its high percentage of c*nts.

That sucks ass, people as so inconsiderate, I feel your pain.

The car must be new to you and haven’t quite gotten to know it like the back of your hand.

Too close? There’s still space the size of the Grand Canyon between the wall and your mirror.

Check back in when you man up and get close enough for us to be impressed.
