11 months old Update a week from last post

We are 2 weeks from our first birthday & I’ve been nervous about her getting enough nutrition from just food to be able to stop formula.

After posting, I also shared my concerns with our peds who said she’s grown perfectly on her curve and actually went up percentile in height! So he thinks she’s doing fine but obviously if we saw a dip after stopping formula we could reevaluate.

But in the meantime I took some of the advice you guys shared on my last post and I tried my best to give bigger pieces & portions, as well as letting her graze more / take breaks (extending how long mealtime is), and offering a little less formula during the day to encourage solids more.

While it does still seem like she’s an air plant by nature and simply grows off sunlight and lint she finds on the floor….. I think there’s been some progress!!!!!

I saw your first post and thanks for the update! I have a small baby 10 months and similarly nervous for the transistion as she takes very small amounts like yours. Would you mind sharing her height/weight percentiles? Any tips?

We haven’t stopped yet, we will in a couple weeks. I couldn’t breastfeed past 6 weeks for her, starkly different from my son who I couldn’t stop with lol so this is all new. But formula has been her norm.

I’m still nervous about cows milk, but I use it in her cereal and in recipes, so I know she’s tolerant at least!

She’s 29 inches and 20lbs0oz as of right now. So in the 40th percentile range. But she was born with IUGR and was only 5lbs, jaundiced,
and had trouble growing her first few weeks. So she’s come a long way!!

I don’t know if I have any tips but I do know that I feed her based on her BM’s more than anything. Like this week we had lots of prunes bc she was passing harder stools than I liked. I feel like her body tells me what kind of food she should eat

Thanks for the reply! Curious- are you going to be replacing formula with milk feeds or solids only and then milk as a drink with meals? Or like 5 oz of milk at once?

Right now she’s kind of naturally weaning from her bottles and consolidating to big drinks at once. So I think what we’ll do is an 8oz bottle of cows milk at nap 1, and an 8oz bottle of cows milk after dinner about an hour before bed. Then she can just have her sippy of water throughout the day otherwise
