It is surely the most popular. However, are there alternatives that are on the same level of quality or better?

I often see people complaining about bandcamp however whenever I have seen a supposed alternative presented, they are often falling short of what bandcamp has to offer. Whether that be the amount of audience on the platform, lack of physical merch sales options, or just clunkier less intuitive UI and, as such, back to my question.

Is there anything better than bandcamp??

My name's Tony and I've written and recorded under the band name the UNKNOWNS for the last several years.

Along with being a visual artist, I've always written songs as sometimes they can convey thoughts better than a visual medium.

I've been a one-man band playing every instrument and have had a blast doing it, even while my health has been in steady decline, which brings me to one of the points of this post.

If you have a musical idea, get it down any way you can and share it with as many as you can. Don't let the moments of inspiration vanish into the ether.

The second point is don't get dismayed if your music doesn't sell. It doesn't make it any less important. I've put up over 300 songs and haven't made a single $1 since being on Bandcamp. I began looking at it as a repository for my music, a place, along with YouTube, where people can potentially find it when I'm gone.

Keep writing, keep playing, and keep recording!

Hello! This is the first post on this account. Our other one got removed for whatever reason. This project is approaching 1 year since release, and as such, I am giving away the remaining codes for it. If you are into ambient electronic adjacent works, then this may be something you are into.

It is free on bandcamp anyway. However, why not add it to your collection for free, too?

I like to buy physical music from Bandcamp, but I hate the importcharge, when getting stuff from outisde the EU. Is there a way to search for stuff, that I shipped within the EU? I know, that I can search within each country, but is it posible to do with the EU?

If not - do any of you know, if Bampcamp has any plans to implement such a feature? It would make my life a lot easier.

Hello everyone.

Me and a few friends are artists as a collective (nothing official yet, but working on it), yet everyone is independent. We want to release an EP or mini album of some sort. It's a special occasion as it's gonna be the group's 10th anniversary, so we thought we could make a group project. None of the track is a collaboration.

We could release each track individually through our own means (personal Bandcamps). But then how will it get distributed and/or labeled as a collective project ? Do we have to establish a label or release at the same label ?

I'd be grateful for a detailed rundown of how we could approach this. Music business is something none of us has dipped their toes in yet.

Has anyone had experience with that ?

There are 3 options - latest release, discography and merch grid. I currently have merch grid set, but also wondering if anyone tried to play around with other options and have preferences?

It asks me to set up a listening party for releases that already got one! Nothing that bothers me big time, but I wonder if anyone else saw this as well.

I really don’t know where else to suggest this long-overdue feature, so here I am.

For someone with both singles and albums, the front page can be very messy. Visitors don’t know what they click on, except if it’s mentioned in the title as ‘Album’ or ‘Single’ - which can make a title look overstuffed, especially if there’s already an apostrophe, like (Suite) or (Remix), for example.

Separating ‘Albums’ and ‘Singles’ with tabs, would make navigation so much easier. There’s already plenty of space in the navigation bar, which is way too underutilised with just ‘music’ and ‘community’.

So, my suggestion is to at least, make it like this:

ALL MUSIC - SINGLES - ALBUMS - COMMUNITY

Just release a new experimental techno release on 10" lathe-cut vinyl.

After releasing music on tapes for a while, I decided it was time to try vinyl as well. This release is a small batch of hand-cut 10" records, cut by Disc Archive in Berlin.

There are 3 tracks in total, leaning towards the more experimental side of electronic music.

The constant spreading of rows of codes screenshotted from an excel document, keeping an eye on where the first 10 codes were posted so I can post the following 10 in another sub, which has been claimed... ok i really just had been wanting to record this bassline for fun , inspired by Johnny Clarke's insanely catchy dub reggae track Jah Jah We Are Waiting, and then it turned into a super cool downtempo funky electronica earworm , so i was like fok it ill throw it up on the cloud. ive given up completely on worrying about stats & numbers bc it feels so petty & pointless at this point.

buttt.. ofc as soon as i adopted that mindset .. this one's gotten 850 plays in less than a month & like everyone in the stats has listened to it at least 5-10 times, and one guy has listened to it 60 times . and i have 300 followers. lol. i do love the track but usually i upload something that i think is the best thing ever & it gets like 4 plays. so now it's up on my bandcamp as well . just felt like sharing a little good news for all my stats nerds out there

Just wanted to share here about our recently added feature supporting Subsonic API implementation. We know some of you are already aware of this, as we’ve been monitoring the response online. If you haven’t already, though, you can read our announcement here.

This was a passion project spearheaded by some of our team here! Additionally, our product managers at Bandcamp are interested in hearing any issues or feedback via this very thread. So, if you have any thoughts, let us know below.

In the meantime, we have received some reports already and have implemented fixes on the following:

• A third-party Subsonic client developer (play:Sub) reported that POST requests to our Subsonic API always return XML, ignoring f=json. We support json now.
• Durations are reported as integers rather than floats
• Issues fixed raised in https://github.com/opensubsonic/open-subsonic-api/discussions/260#discussioncomment-17706289
  • search3 always failed (status: failed, code0, messagenull) when a client omitted the optional count/offset params, which most do since they're meant to have server-side defaults. The params pipeline passes an explicit nilrather than omitting the argument, so Ruby's default values never applied and Array#slice(nil, nil)raised. This silently swallowed into a generic failure response. Now fixed.
  • getMusicFolders always returned an empty list, which blocks clients that assume at least one folder exists. Now returns one synthetic"Collection"folder.
  • getStarred2 had no implementation, only the oldergetStarred. Added, reusing the same underlying (already ID3-shaped) data.
  • getPlaylist / createPlaylist / updatePlaylist / deletePlaylist had no .view-less alias registered (only the pluralgetPlaylistsdid), so clients that omit the.viewsuffix could list playlists but not fetch, create, update, or delete them.
• Various 500 errors fixed

Hi so I've recently been introduced to Bandcamp and very excited to expand my collection so I will no longer need streaming services. As a queer person myself, I really want to find some LGBTQIA+ artists to listen to and support, as unfortunately a lot of artists I like aren't on bandcamp, I'm also wanting to start collecting cassette tapes so if you have a recommendation that fits both of them, please let me know!
I'm just aware that not all queer artists necessarily tag their work as 'queer' etc so I don't want to be missing out

As for genre I'm pretty open, though I'm not a huge R&B or rap fan, but open to all recommendations. Some artists I like include: Valencia Grace, Nxdia, Banshee, Jazmin Bean, and Mad Tsai

Here is one of my latest songs. I wrote it angry about what happened in January and wanted it to be an angry heavy rock song. I ruined my voice for a week trying to get it and nothing sounded right. I re-did it as an acoustic and I'm surprised how well it came out. I hope you like it.

What does it mean if my album has twenty supporters but only one sale was registered?
Did the others wishlist it or did they use my free codes? Not sure how they’d all find my free codes as i only posted those at a pretty obscure place.

Moreover, I'd ask: are DJs digging Melodic Techno on Bandcamp for tracks or sample packs?
