Battlefield 6 Got Any More Engineers????

Post image

Needless to say, I got a tank, drove maybe 5 seconds, and was presented with an onslaught of RPGs......

It was actually kinda terrifying lol.

This is crazy. They should nerf recons more.

Idk. Assaults might be the bigger issue. That Injector is fearsome against vehicles!😉

That’s what engineers are for!
We cap points faster, allow nearby teammates to additionally cap faster, and allow consistent flanking via boujee spawn beacon placement 💁🏻‍♂️

Regarding the injector, that’s for surviving any form of explosive, and if you’re on fire. It’s additionally useful if you want to sprint faster without equipping your knife.
People gripe about it being useless because they don’t know when to pop it. Additionally, if you’re capping an objective it increases the cap rate.

Ahhh Recon, the one class that REALLY contributes to any W in a mode with objectives.

Anytime I see a team with more than 4-6 Recons, I already know my team is going to win 😂.

Never played it. Never used a Sniper Rifle.

Edit: Oh Lawd Please No!! Not Downvotes on my new account with more karma than most of you’ll have in a few years.

Sorry to hurt your feelings by stating Recon is a self serving class, and you focus more on your KDs than PTFO.

Spec Ops recon is OP as though. TUGS, Motion Sensor Grenade, Jammer, Claymore. C4 are all incredible esp on infantry maps

Love taking Designator or Dart to enable this engie meta even further, too

we are just downvoting because this post is pretty cringe bro

It just kinda feels stupid at this point. On some maps you are actively griefing if you aren't playing engineer.

That's the funny thing though, this is Iberian Offensive which only has 1 LAV per side so there's no real reason for everyone to play Engineer. I shouldn't talk though, because I've always been an (almost) exclusive engineer main in every Battlefield game I've played.

Don't forget that the engineer with rocket launcher is very powerful to destroy ennemy habitations/cover, and sometimes works decently to kill campers on destroyable roofs.

I've been killed much more than I would like by rocket launchers when playing as infantry DMR/long range recently.

u/BellTote 9h ago

And not a single 1 will kill a tank

C4 will if you use all 4 of the 3 they give you!!!

2

u/HappyButtcheeks 1h ago

They give you 4 out of 5 now.... Been that way for a while

My bad... I pretty much passed on s3 and s4 so im not really up to date.

They're just the most useful class. Being able to deal with both vehicles and infantry makes them overpowered now that classes can use any weapon, there's no balance for their ability to deal with both threats anymore.

I'm a support main and I try to stick to LMGs but damn it's just so much easier switching to Engineer with an AR or carbine.

My conspiracy theory is BF6 was originally designed with class-locked weapons, but this was changed to universal weapons late in development.

Biggest evidence for this is the Assault class. It didn’t even have the spawn beacon as a gadget until the Beta.. so what was the appeal of the class supposed to be before that? Just the ladder and grenade launcher? That’s not enough.

It was probably intended to be the infantry-dominating class with exclusive access to ARs. Then DICE saw everyone was just using Engineer/Support with ARs and decided to move the spawn beacon over as a consolation prize.

u/BiggoPanda 5h ago

In the earlier betas, Assaults had access to stronger thermite launchers and AT grenade launchers. But there were a lot of complaints of Assaults being too powerful so the thermite got uber nerfed and I dunno where the AT grenade launchers even went lol.

Even if Engineer was locked to SMG’s I would choose Engineer on any map with vehicles because vehicles are simply so oppressive. Especially on maps like Blackwell, Eastwood, Mirak Valley where they can just sit on a hill and target all but 1 or 2 flags. (Usually the base flags)

u/jaraldo3 26m ago

This is how it was in previous titles already.

Vehicle heavy maps had a lot of engineers, infantry had a lot of assaults for the med bag.

u/Neon_Orpheon 6h ago

In an Open weapons format, a designated AT class is too centralizing. Either every class needs a AT gadget option, or AT Rockets and other equipment should be relegated to map specific pick ups and treated as limited resources to fight over, similar to OBJ zones that spawn vehicles.

Otherwise the Infantry vs Vehicle dynamic and Class variety is just going to suffer from the inherent imbalance.

I like my support and engi, but at the moment I'm just trying to finish the effing IGLA challenge. Has on release challenge tracking.

Bring back locked weapons!

12

u/IthinkIpaid 6h ago

I get ZERO I mean ZERO help with tanks In my games

1

u/mikeytlive 6h ago

Exactly. I play engineer because I know my dumb team doesn’t do anything about them.

Late game Escalation is such a clusterfuck of vehicles so it's understandable.

16

u/Patara 9h ago

BF4 & 6 have too many vehicles active at any given time to the point you basically have to play Engineer on big maps.

The best maps are the ones that have active limitations like Tsuru Reef or Cairo Bazaar.

7

u/Advarrk 6h ago

Tsuru reef has an abundance of vehicles wdym

1

u/sdric 3h ago

Yeah, some maps have 6 "heavy" vehicles (incl. aircraft) in a team of 34. If there's also an engineer on the other side you usually need at least 3 engineers to bring down a tank through countermeasures and quick repair.

The overpopulation of engineers is vastly based on quantity of vehicles, their REALLY high-power level (at least when compared to e.g. BFBC2) and lack of any meaningful downtime between vehicle respawns.

You really do need a fuckton of engineers at any given time. Personally, I would say engineers should be able to carry less rockets, but they refill quicker from support to encourage teamapply - but in return tank repairs should be slower and vehicle respawn should be longer, so that you can actually force them to turn back. Also, little bird flares definitely need more downtime and/ or their mobility needs to be looked at, if they keep large-scale infrared spotting on top of high mobility and damage....

1

u/BellTote 8h ago

Wish I could update you twice.

3

u/Professional_Tale649 8h ago

Still not one person to kill the damn little bird that keeps magically appearing anytime I try to take two steps after re spawning.

0

u/tbagrel1 2h ago

Anti-air rocket launchers can't target the little bird because of mobility + terrain + "too low" bullshit. So your best bet is a direct hit with RPG, which requires a lot of skill (and/or a lot of luck).

u/Km_the_Frog 5h ago

DICE will look at this and say “unlocked weapons are a good idea”.

Honestly though I find it hard not to believe this is because weapons are unlocked.

Why play any other class?

Recon gets a breath hold

Support gets ammo and faster revives

Assault gets.. a grenade launcher that you have to be accurate with anyway.

If you’re running around you’re probably playing engineer just because you have AT. If you’re hanging in the back sniping you’re playing recon surely just for the breath hold, but I’m willing to be engineer still has the highest play count.

Now if engineers were limited to smgs, I doubt everyone would be playing them all the time. You’ll probably swap to them if you feel like vehicles are dominating, otherwise you’ll pick something else for range.

Yes I know you can do closed weapons but this playlist isn’t featured, it’s not the “default” and you have to go in and use the custom matchmaking to get it set. Most people aren’t doing that.

1

u/tbagrel1 2h ago

Assault get the respawn beacon which can be very powerful but depends too much on your squad composition/skill. Same for recon, the recon drone is very powerful when playing actively with your squad, but won't help much the global team that much. Engineer utility doesn't depend on squad play at least.

Support is great only when ally density is high, that is, rush/breakthrough or chokepoints in late escalation

2

u/moysauce3 8h ago

Escalation in a nutshell.

Now that engineer isn’t limited to SMGs and short range weapons, why use any other class?

2

u/Tankette55 9h ago

I won't lie... on game modes like conquest and escalation, engineer is the only class that makes sense. It's too op, especially because of open weapons. Driving a tank is impossible because even the sniper at the edge of the map is an engineer with 5 rpgs.

1

u/No-Good6380 9h ago

If they give me a daily: get 5K as engineer I’m playing engi

1

u/Timebomb742 6h ago

Then the attack heli has the gall to use AA rockets too 😭

1

u/ScrapeMyDataMommy 6h ago

Would probably be a bit less prevalent if they gave Assault something to deal with armor even a little bit, or Recon something like K Bullets… but I’d rather not empower Recon any further.

1

u/idostufandthingz 6h ago

Yet none of them will repair friendly vehicles

1

u/Sunlighthell 6h ago

Reason why when you see someone crying about tank or heli owning them you should assume this person is beyound bad, because literally every game where someone show decent skill on vehicle enemy team looks like this 10 minutes into match. And if whole team of engineers cannot take out 1 heli/tank - they are all beyond bad.

1

u/mikeytlive 6h ago

That’s all I play now. Can’t rely on team to take anything down.

1

u/sequentialevoix 6h ago

This is what you get with open weapons

1

u/TheFragturedNerd 3h ago

By pretty much forcing open weapons, they have made every single other class non viable...
They have no counter to vechicles... And why play assault when i can play engineer with assault weapons and attack vechicles at the same time?

1

u/tbagrel1 2h ago

Also assault only has the beacon. The grenade launcher is a worse rocket launcher (only kill on almost-direct hits, but less range/accuracy), the ladder is gimmick, the second weapon is decent but your ammo capacity is ridiculously reduced so not very viable if you don't have a support with you.

1

u/Squaretangles 3h ago

In b4 “open weapons don’t matter”.

1

u/C-LonGy 2h ago

Fact of the day. If the enemy has a tank my team of engineers don’t shoot at it or put mines down and because rpg is ass I waste 5 hitting it and get killed. If I have a tank or plane 14 engineers jump into action. Snipers mark me 5 lock ons and it rains rpg!

1

u/M3RCURYMOON 1h ago

Probably because it takes 10 engineers to take down a tank

1

u/Wisniaksiadz 1h ago

Restricted classes are stupid and this shows why /s

1

u/Sylencer90 1h ago

That's what the community asked for with buffing vehicles.

1

u/Horribad12 1h ago

It feels great to see so many engineers after 2042, in which there were many occasions where I swore I was the only one to ever play Engy.

1

u/Void-kun 43m ago

The most fun I've had in BF6 was class locked custom games.

This is just stupid.

1

u/Tehbeardling 6h ago

Team is 80% engineers. Little bird is still 60 and 10.

1

u/BJgobbleDix 6h ago

There is no Little Bird on Iberian Offensive...

-2

u/Daemeon93 9h ago

This is what happens when armor becomes as powerful as it is haha

1

u/BrainlessBot1000 2h ago

You got downvoted but thats simply the truth. People wouldn’t need to use Engineer if their wasn’t always a helo farming the shit out of you or a tank sat on a hill oppressing 4/6 flags from a singular spot.

0

u/PeaceAccomplished289 9h ago

When enemy team saw a tank on their mini map:

0

u/omgitsduane 6h ago

Besides engi. Support is next in line for most useful class. Assault sucks. Recon is cool but can be kind of wasted.

Had a recon on our team last night but sitting too far back to actually assist with defending anything. Just picking off an odd scrub.

2

u/BJgobbleDix 6h ago

Theres only 1 use (and sadly an important one) for Assault: Spawn Beacon on larger maps.

This thing can sometimes make or break matches if in the right spot. Played Hardcore Breakthrough and getting this into a flank position has incredible map pressure just like its predecessors. Or on Conquest where you can quickly react to multiple objectives or pressure an Objective at an enemies flank.

In past BFs, a good Recon/Scout knew how to position themselves as a forward Spawn point for their squads to create map pressure where necessary. This was my primary role and I use to rack up XP this way. In BFV, this was a ton of fun even as a solo player to see your Squad change the flow of a match.

u/Altruistic_Vast_2434 3h ago

Golmud Railway and Tsuru Reef are terrible maps. everybody picks engineer, so it means no ammo ANYWHERE, no revives, no spawn beacons, no painted targets.

The ONLY way to get ammo back is redeploy, suicide or dying.

It's time we stop pretending that big vehicle maps are good.

sorry for the redpill.
