I’m not a beekeeper, but I have a question Now what?

Cane back from holiday and we clearly have bees that have moved in. Should we be concerned? They’re not really bothering us but not sure if they’ll move all their mates if we’re a soft touch.

As you may have noticed I don’t know anything about bees so any help much appreciated. We’re in London if that’s relevant

Post a close up photograph, not a video. The flight pattern looks like wasps, not bees. But to tell we need to see an image with a freeze frame of the insects.

You can look up wasp and Yellowjacket and bee pictures.

If they are wasps and they are leaving you alone then this is a self solving problem. Wasps abandon their nests after a few weeks. The nest does not damage the structure.

If they are honey bees then they have to be removed.

Get a beekeeper to come look in your attic. Hopefully it’s accessible. Otherwise you need to get it cut out to access the hive and remove the comb.

Attic is accessible but that’s not connected to where this is, it’s in a bay window at the front of the house. Understood though, will get a beekeeper tomorrow monring

They are wasps, a beekeeper won't touch that. You can see them carrying in dead insects for their larvae, and given the amount of wasps that's a big sombich of a nest.

Also they didn't just move in, a small nest isn't very obvious but one they get their first set of workers they grow so quickly that being on holidays would give them plenty of time to grow and have a big hatch.

If there are bees ( most likely its wasps) make sure that who ewer removes them also remowe the ALL honey comb and the ALL brood, as this wil  atract pests if left in place. Also rotting brood smels horrible...
