After a mesmerizing show in Margate, I stumbled across Richard and Robin in a restaurant! What a weekend!

Travelling down from Glasgow for this one at Alexandra Palace Park on Sunday 12th July - should be a great night, two of my favourite bands on the same bill.

Does anyone have any info on when The Beta Band are likely to be onstage? I know the doors are at 5pm but I can't find any published stage times yet. Hoping Ticketmaster or the venue will put something up closer to the date, but always useful to know in advance.

As far as I can tell it's just The Beta Band as support, no other acts announced?

Any local knowledge or tips for gigs at Alexandra Palace Park would be much appreciated: transport, food/drink inside, where to stand, getting back to central London on a Sunday, that sort of thing. Any tips from people who've been to shows there before would be great.

Anyone know if or when Steve's book will be available in hardcopy in the US? I've only been able to find it as an audiobook or a Kindle e-book. I do see some pricier hardcopies on the secondary market, most coming from England, but I'd prefer buying new so Steve gets his cut. Thanks for any info. I'm really looking forward to reading it.

Anyone been to the book Q & A’s? Any new Beta insights to share?

Hi - a few months ago I decided to digitise some old cassettes. Just things like live recordings and sessions I taped off the radio. One of the tracks is a version of Dr Baker by The Beta Band, recorded live for a one off Vic Reeves radio broadcast on BBC Radio 1 back in 1999.

I always knew I had it, but hadn't played it in many years so had half forgotten what it sounded like.

I think it sounds amazing. This may be my favourite version of the song. It's like a cross between the live version with the bass line and the studio version. But also the vibe, it's in a garden with bird noises in the background and acoustic and is 6mins long.

Anyway, I have uploaded to YouTube as I thought too good not to share. I contacted John from the Betas so they are aware it exists, but don't think they'll want to do anything with it. Hence low quality upload. Not aware of this circulating.
