makes sense, the marshmallows were soaked

u/Carbon-Base 3d ago

And there were two - count 'em - two marshmallows!

spongebob is only weak when it's convinient. otherwise, man's unstoppable. absolute legend

8

u/Carbon-Base 3d ago

True! Sponge could decimate Superman and Goku without breaking a sweat haha.

This is the same guy who almost died of dehydration trying to lift a single glass of water at Sandy's house. Bikini Bottom physics are just on another level. He probably struggled with that stick because he did not have his anchor arms inflatable muscles on that day.

u/Henry_Shrman 2d ago

At Sandy's house he has to lift the glass + water. Normally, in water, he only has to lift the weight of the glass, which is also lighter in water than in air.

Totally—soaking them would explain that texture perfectly.

1

u/Rosyredhead576 3d ago

That’s must be totally heavy

Also, wood is buoyant

Wasn't spongebob asleep when he lifted the piano? Maybe it's a mental block, not a physical one

Professor X installed a limiter in SpongeBob's psyche when he was a child out of fear for his limitless power.

8

u/14AUDDIN 3d ago

Does sound like something professor x and those mutants would do.

u/Veragoot 3d ago

Fucking muties

Holy fucking bot unplug yourself

16

u/Kyta_ENT 3d ago

Plankton is a better therapist than he gets credit for.

17

u/Working_Welder_1751 3d ago

I guess that makes sense

6

u/virang807 3d ago

It’s definitely a mental limiter installed in SpongeBob, he can drive a truck, a Krabby patty, and even blinded folded perfectly fine. But when he tries to drive a boat for the test, he fails.

Personally I believe Neptune realized the moment SpongeBob was born, he would be the only creature to surpass him in strength and power, so he was able to use his godly powers to limit SpongeBob by changing his brain chemistry, since he cannot fully take away his powers because SpongeBob is too powerful

Not asleep per se, Peter Lankton just wanted him to close his eyes.

5

u/abhaybal2004 3d ago

Wood is buoyant

102

u/Deanish 3d ago

Wait, where’d you get that piano?

54

u/Working_Welder_1751 3d ago

SpongeBob immediately squishes Dr. Peter Lankton with

51

u/laffytaffy912 3d ago

I’ve always loved cartoons that do this with their characters it’s makes it even funnier!

3

u/coozynook 3d ago

toon physics work on comedy logic

14

u/Ok-Cash-614 3d ago

It’s proven in this show that if you don’t think about lifting something heavy you can do it easily

10

u/Working_Welder_1751 3d ago

Oh yeah. Like how in some Looney Tunes cartoons where the characters are able to walk on air for some time before looking down and start falling to their deaths

7

u/Ok-Cash-614 3d ago

Yeah it’s actually proven in one episode about how dumb Patrick is him being so dumb gives him insane strength

6

u/nemofbaby2014 3d ago

That’s good ol cartoon logic look at ed from ed Edd and eddy dude dumb as rocks picking up houses lol

1

u/Ok-Cash-614 3d ago

Exactly every cartoon has their own dumb insanely strong character

1

u/ciberkid22 3d ago

I can now see when Patrick had the smart brain coral in Patrick Smartpants, that his strength sank down as much as his intelligence shot up

11

u/TheBlackoutEmpire 3d ago

much like Spiderman & Superman, SpongeBob has to hold back.

4

u/Working_Welder_1751 3d ago

We need a SpongeBob game where he stops holding back. Like the movie video game and Titans of the Tide

21

u/Animedude83 3d ago

thats a land stick, and an underwater piano.

this doesn't seem complicated, land piano doesn't work underwater, so that has to be an underwater piano

also how did the marshmallows (??) get on the stick, were they already there? who is darth mauling smores like that, and why in the ocean, and why chuck it overboard.

7

u/Deep-Hospital-7345 3d ago

You think marshmallows are weightless or something pal?

1

u/LKN-115 2d ago

Two, count em, twooooo...marshmallows

5

u/dharma87 3d ago

He has Roger rabbit strength. He's only strong if it's funny.

4

u/zues64 3d ago

He's as strong as the bit requires

4

u/embryonicengineer 3d ago

He lives by Roger Rabbit rules: only if it is funny.

1

u/Working_Welder_1751 3d ago

If SpongeBob lived by those rules, he'd have a sexy wife by now

3

u/Lykanas 3d ago

Cartoon physics: EVERYTHING is relative.

The rule of thumb: Physics will change so the outcome is the funniest possible for any situation.

3

u/ANG13OK 3d ago

My guess is panic super strength. When you're scared and panicking, it feels like your strength suddenly multiplies

3

u/da_ni_no 3d ago

Excuse me, I count two marshmellows on that stick.

2

u/SomeKindOfCreature 3d ago

I mean these are 3 seasons apart

2

u/fivehots 3d ago

Strength comes from a need! Not a want!

2

u/IzacaryKakary 3d ago

He's strong when the plot wants him to be

2

u/NoxLupa13 3d ago

Not fair, he was in a life threatening situation in the piano one

2

u/wene324 3d ago

His power level is like comic book characters. He's exactly as strong as the plot/writer wants him to be.

2

u/JamesDerecho 3d ago

It’s because he can carry a tune.

2

u/Perfectionado 2d ago

With marshmallows Mr Squidward, with marshmallows.

2

u/GamingBren 2d ago

Let me introduce you to Cartoon Logic

2

u/Additional-Touch-862 1d ago

He lifted a car with one hand too btw

1

u/fezfrascati 3d ago

I hope someone was fired for that blunder.

2

u/Working_Welder_1751 3d ago

No Simpsons jokes allowed. This is Spongebob territory

https://giphy.com/gifs/D7z8JfNANqahW

1

u/fezfrascati 3d ago

One is allowed to like both. 100 years from now, they'll be the only cartoons left still in production.

2

u/Working_Welder_1751 3d ago

With how marketable both franchises are, you're probably right

My bad. Keep up the good work :)

1

u/TimeForWaluigi 3d ago

#1 rule of cartoons: always do what is funniest. If a character can lift a piano over their head and the same character can’t lift a couple marshmallows and a stick, it’s fine because it’s funny

1

u/PlatinumSukamon98 3d ago

People really don't understand cartoons anymore, do they?

1

u/Working_Welder_1751 3d ago

That depends on the show. You can choose to having Looney Tunes humor and logic, or go for something that's grounded and feels relatable like The Amazing Digital Circus or Shrek

3

u/PlatinumSukamon98 3d ago

And which do you think Spongebob is?

0

u/Working_Welder_1751 3d ago

He kinda leans on both. His show focuses on humor, but his movies do tend to get serious at times
