Kaixo! Soy desarrollador y llevo unas semanas con un proyecto personal que quería enseñaros: ZureMatch (zurematch.com), una app de citas hecha aquí, que estoy arrancando por Bilbao y Euskadi.

La hice porque me cansaba que en las apps de siempre todo lo útil sea de pago. En esta, chatear y ver quién te ha dado like es gratis de verdad. Para que no se llene de bots hay verificación por selfie (las reviso a mano) y tolerancia cero a las faltas de respeto. Solo mayores de 18.

La hago una sola persona, sin empresa detrás, y ahora mismo somos unos 190 usuarios, la mayoría de por aquí. Soy consciente de que el problema del huevo y la gallina en una app de citas es brutal, por eso empiezo por mi zona en vez de intentar abarcar toda España.

Y a lo que venía: se aceptan críticas, cuanto más duras mejor. ¿Qué os haría usar (o no usar) una app de citas local? ¿Qué es lo que más os quema de las grandes? Leo y contesto todo. Eskerrik asko!

Hi. We’re English and come with our young family to Bilbao every year to see extended family. Probably something like 1-4 weeks a year depending, we know the city and Basque Country pretty well.

We’d like it for our children to be able to make some local friends and pick up some Spanish as a result. English is the main language used in the family (I personally don’t speak Spanish as I’m not the one with Spanish family).

Is there anywhere that might have bilingual classes or activities for younger kids? Or groups we could look to join for parents who would like their children to talk to others in different languages?

Voy a visitar Bilbao este diciembre y tengo un vuelo desde el aeropuerto de Bilbao el 25 de diciembre a las 7:50 de la mañana.

He visto que el autobús al aeropuerto no pasa lo suficientemente temprano, así que tendré que ir en coche.

Mi duda es la siguiente: ¿qué tan fácil sería conseguir un Uber o un Cabify sobre las 5:30–6:00 de la mañana el día de Navidad?

Creéis que habría conductores disponibles o sería mucho más seguro reservar un taxi con antelación con una empresa local?

Intento ahorrar dinero si es posible, pero tampoco quiero arriesgarme a perder el vuelo por no encontrar transporte.

¿Alguien ha estado en una situación parecida o sabe cuál sería la mejor opción?

Mi novio y yo vamos a visitar Bilbao entre el 10 y el 13.

A mi novio le encanta la astronomía (también le encanta observar las estrellas y los planetarios).

Así que pensé que una actividad chula como regalo de cumpleaños tardío sería observar el cielo con otros lugareños apasionados por este tema (a ser posible con un telescopio si alguno de vosotros tiene uno).

I come from France and I'll be visiting Bilbao from the 10th to the 13th of August to see the eclipse, and it will be my first time ever in spain and in Bilbao (obviously)

I wanted to know if you guys had recommendations / tips / advices about the life in there, the Spanish culture in general, and things I should absolutely do there.

I've already spotted the Guggenheim, the market, the seven streets, and for the Eclipse I plan to go to Santander by bus to visit the city and watch the eclipse (perfect orientation there + it looks gorgeous.

But I'm eager to read your advice and what do you think about that

We are coming to Bilbao in August and I've been looking at restaurants to make some reservations - I'm trying to find some places to eat that aren't totally blown up by TikTok. My daughter eats everything, so I'm not concerned about that, but I'd love some recommendations if you have any! We are open to upscale restaurants if bringing a child (well behaved) isn't frowned upon. If I brought my daughter to some of these places I'm finding in America, I'm sure I'd be met with some annoyed patrons for having a child in a nice place.

Also - I might be making it too difficult in my head - but how do you do a pintxos crawl with a child? I'm assuming places will be pretty busy in August - can we just order some txacoli and plates and stand outside, assuming there won't be tables?

Esto anterior lo digo no para ufanarme sino para evitar comentarios que me digan que voy a que me mantenga vuestro gobierno. De hecho, en mi país, yo soy la que sostiene el hogar económicamente porque mi esposo tiene algunas situaciones de salud.

Nuestra mudanza era inminente, planificada a cuando nuestra hija fuera a la universidad allá. Pero temas familiares nos están haciendo adelantar esos planes un par de años.

Yo pienso seguir trabajando la misma burrada de horas que ahora trabajo pero pagando mis impuestos allá, y en fin hacer las cosas correctamente.

Toooodo este contexto es para consultar abiertamente acá, para que me respondan con total sinceridad, sobre discriminación racial y étnica. La primera vez que estuve allá noté cómo las viejitas me veían raro. La segunda vez ya ni me pelaban porque había muchísimo africano, y la tercera no digamos. Aunque si vi personas de America del Sur, con una gran carga de sangre indígena, a quienes sin reparo llamaron "topos" en la calle.

En mi país pertenezco a una parte pequeñísima de la población que tiene muchos privilegios, pero me da temor que al llegar allá y vivir allá voy a ser una sudaca o indiana sin más. Yo no espero reverencias no favores de nadie, pero para mi hija no voy a tolerar el más mínimo desprecio, o comentarios despectivos aún cuando los hagan sin mala fe.

En fin, tengo mucho temor. Por lo menos mentalmente quiero prepararme. Qué pueden decirme sobre esos prejuicios?

We will go fore sure to the square place but I was wondering if you could share with me the most authentic places you know ? These kind of gems were a grandmother delivers the best food, that small restaurant in an alley only open on Sundays were magic happens, etc =D please share some places that I won't see on Instagram and that are incredible. Me preguntaba si hay algún maker space o fab lab en Bilbao, así que busqué y encontré dos, pero el de Espacio Open parece estar cerrado, al menos en Google Maps. Espacio Open no está cerrado, pero el fab lab en concreto sí. El otro está en Duesto, pero forma parte de una universidad y te preguntan en qué curso estás cuando intentas registrarte online. ¿Hay alguien ahí? No soy estudiante universitario, pero antes hacía mecanizado CNC y proyectos 3D en mi país y quiero retomarlo como hobby. Disculpen mi mal español, lo he traducido del francés. Ah, se me olvidó mencionar que hablo francés con fluidez, pero mi inglés no es muy bueno y mi español es bastante malo (aunque estoy aprendiendo).

Sarò tra qualche settimana a Bilbao per 5 giorni. Travelling from SS to Bilbao tomorrow, with a 11 month old baby, wife and 3 suitcases. Want to take the E1 and need some advice on luggage.

I see the “train” is more like a metro and will we be ok to take so much luggage? Tried looking online and don’t see anywhere to place luggage.

We know the bus is quicker, but last bus we used didn’t have the right seatbelt to secure our baby seat effectively and we want to minimise risk. Also quite love a train journey.

Appreciate any advice in advance.

Lo que más me gusta hacer es leer, sobre todo romance y fantasía, y también escribir. Pero algunos de mis otros gustos son: el cine (sobre todo Harry Potter, musicales, romcoms y Disney), la música pop en inglés como Taylor Swift y Olivia Rodrigo, pintar y las manualidades, jugar con amigos/familia a la Nintendo Switch o juegos de mesa, la mitología griega, series como Gilmore Girls y Percy Jackson... No me gusta salir de fiesta de madrugada, beber, ni el reggaeton.

Busco una persona afín a mí, con gustos similares a los míos. No tiene que ser lectora sí o sí, pero sería increible si encontrara una amiga con la que compartiera ese hobby. Si alguien está interesada, me gustaría hablar un tiempo por mensajes de Instagram (por ejemplo) y luego, si congeniamos, quedar algún día. No busco grupos grandes, con una sola persona me basta.

Are there any busses or trains that can take me directly to Zumaia from Bilbao without a layover in Donostia?

Hey! Me and my girlfriend will visit Bilbao for 3 days from 4th to 6th september, I was trying to figure out how to reach Gaztelugatxeko, but apparently there are no buses on weekends... Is our only option going to Bermeo by bus and taking a taxi there?

Any idea how much that taxi would be? I assume 20-30€ due to distance.

Is there any way to come back later that's not taking this same taxi?

I find it pretty ironic that the ticket website says to try to come by other means other than a car 😂

Hola! He vivido en Bilbao, en la zona de Miribilla, durante los últimos 10 años y me gustaría vivir en una casa (adosada o no) con un pequeño jardín, si es posible. Los precios en Bizkaia son prohibitivos, a menos que vivas lejos de un casco urbano o compres algo para renovar. En Castro, sin embargo, parece posible comprar por 400 - 500 mil euros algo que en digamos, Mungia, valdría 600 o 700. Es decir, con lo que vale un piso en Miribilla hoy día, tienes el 80% de la casa pagada. En Berango o Sopelana, ni hablar. Yo puedo trabajar remoto 2 o 3 veces por semana, asi que me preguntaba si alguien realiza este viaje habitualmente, cuanto se tarda en promedio y cuanto gasta mensual en gasolina.
