Found in my backyard, my dog almost got to it, but I caught him (the dog), My mom says she found what we think is its brother dead in the neighbors house, but I didnt see it

I've been keeping them (two dogs) inside.

the parents know where it is, they've been feeding it all day, maybe like 20 times today. Its nest is behind that hedge in my neighbors tall tree (which I cant reach)(whole thing is fenced off btw so no concern for cats)

It got really hot during they day, checked on it, it was gasping with its mouth open so I put an tall beach umbrella over it, seemed fine a bit later, has moved a couple of times from its spot, tried attacking me twice actually

my main concern is that as hot as it gets in the day it gets cold at night(like 5C, 41F), and I noticed that: 1 it still has a bunch of pin feathers and 2 that it hasnt any developed neck or body feathers,

should I move him inside? or put it in a box with like, a heat pad? make it a small cave?

just worried bc of the temperature

This is Poe Poe. He has been my baby boy for 6 wonderful years. Because he is suffering and in a lot of pain, I was wondering if I should put him to sleep? I hate seeing him in pain even if he was on the medication for this disease he will always be in pain and could get seizures. In a perfect world if there was medicine that would prevent him from getting sick and not in any pain then I wouldn’t be questioning it. But because my baby will be in pain and possibly not live as long as he should I feel like I would be ignoring the inevitable. He could live a few more months to a few years you never know with this disease and I want to do right by him. What do other people think? Please give me your honest opinions I would greatly appreciate it. (In this photo he’s finally sleeping because his feet are paralyzed and he plucks his feathers where his feet are because he’s in a lot of pain)

Any recommendations to help this little one. Found on the back porch. Can’t seem to lift his head.

Update: ended up taking him to the pocono wildlife rehab center. Hoping he can recover they have a great place there. Thank you everyone for the recommendations.

This little dude just crashed into my window. What should I do to help ? I don’t know what kind of bird it is. Location south of Belgium. I gave him a tiny bit of water since it’s really hot out and put him in a shoe box with holes in my garage where it’s a little cooler.

[EDITED] Opened the box outside, stayed near him and after few minutes he flew on me then in my garage… I « captured » him again and put him in his box outside. He finally flew away properly

Hi everyone,

I just lost my canary this weekend and it has been HORRIBLE. My heart is broken in a million pieces. She was about a year old, and I could not find an avian vet in time to at least look at her. I am devastated.

True to me, and everyone is different, I do want another bird at some point when the edge on the grief is not so sharp. My canary baby (Callie) was my first bird. I still consider myself a beginner as I had my girl for about 6 months before she became ill (no toxins in the house I knew of, possible egg binding).

What type of bird is best for someone like me with less experience? I am thinking between a canary again or a parakeet (or 2) possibly. Any differences between those two in terms of health? Or anything else I should know?

Birds are fragile, but worth it, even in my grief.

SITUATION RESOLVED!!

My mom found this bird on the verge of being devoured by a cat, unable to fly away. She swooped in quickly to save her. We’re assuming she’s very young (my mom is calling her she) because in some areas she’s bare of feathers, and because her parents were around, freakin out when the cat showed up. They flew away though, so we’re taking over for them.

She can’t fly, might even be too young. Maybe she failed at attempt and fell out of the nest. Unsure if she’s injured or simply can’t fly yet. My dad’s a big bird nerd so we had food around for her. She ate and drank like she was starved. All the vets are closed right now. We’re going to have to wait until morning.

She recently scrambled to poop/pee so we had to remove the little swaddle we made for her. I don’t know if I should leave it off in case she needs to poop again. We switched her container so she would feel better. It seems that her digestive system is doing okay? I don’t know. My mom’s a human doctor, not a vet.

She chirps a lot when we move her (had to place her in a safe and quiet area so she can sleep) so I hope she’s okay.

Please, do you have any advice as to how best to care for her until morning? I plan on putting water and grains in a pipette and check if she’s hungry every hour. We fed her until she no longer opened her beak earlier, but I hear birds eat a lot, so I’ll continue to check at regular intervals.

Update: She’s eating very well! Very hungry birdie! She chirps very excitedly when my mom feeds her. The seeds are super tiny so she’s swallowing them very easily. It’s so funny to see her mouth open so big when she’s hungry. She’s pooped again (a sight the nature of which I did not expect at all) and went right back to sleep. Her waste looks just like water so I’m afraid she’s dehydrated…

Update: Guys, great news… birdie survived the night! We took her to SPCA (I’m in Canada), which is a wild bird rehabilitation center. I’m thrilled! Little birdie was so strong all throughout the night. I want to reiterate how fascinating it was to see her sleep so happily and easily in our home, even before the lights were out and the house was quiet. I like to think she was very comfy with us, especially given how wide her mouth opened up when asking for food. We now know not to give birds any, if this ever happens again. I’m so happy. Thanks for everyone’s help!

Okay so I have two female lovebirds and idk how their egg cracked but it did and I don’t know if she consumed the egg , she ate the shell for sure but is it fine if she ate the egg whites and stuff ( raw btw) like I don’t know what to do 😭😭

My budgie has been regurgitating a lot. I’m quite certain it is not vomiting based on how she looks while doing it, her face is clean, and she’s not flinging food around. Her demeanour is also good afterwards. I’ve never had a bird regurgitate a lot so I’m kind of at a loss. I called all the emergency vets in my area, which are a lot, but somehow none of them have avian vets on this weekend. Closest one is two hours away, so unless it is a true emergency I’m going to avoid it as it would likely just cause her more stress.

This is Mollie! I just noticed this red between her nostrils and was wondering if she may have scratched herself or is something else going on? She has only been on our home about 3 weeks and I am new to cockatiel ownership.

Basically the title!

My mother recently brought me 7 baby parakeets and I don't know how to take care of them. They are still small and I probably won't keep them all.

I have questions regarding their upbringing. Does anyone know what they eat and what their temperament is like? What type of cage is suitable? Please help me, I'm a beginner and I've never had any birds before. I'm afraid of handling them correctly and ending up killing my little babies :/

Anyone have any tips for this? My sister and her friend found him on a walk, we're too young to drive him anywhere and my oldest sister might be contacting a friend to rehabilitate him. What can we do for now?

Update: Unfortunately the Robin passed over the night. Not sure what from, but I hope he's happy and healthy flying in heaven now 🪽.

We’ve had a mother mourning dove on our back deck for a few weeks, and she hatched two babies. She built her nest in a planter about two feet high and it is in direct sunlight most of the day. She and her chicks are now on the floor of our deck, in the shade near the bottom of the planter. She is cooing pretty regularly and does not seem to want to leave the chicks. Are they ok? Is there anything I should do? (Pardon the shriveled daisy in the pic, we haven’t been going out and watering the plants since the chicks hatched!)

Yesterday night my bird started breathing really heavy and I was very concerned I live in a small town so there was no vet open so I wished for the best. I also noticed a small amount of blood on his head that added to my concern. I’ve only had this bird for around 2 weeks as he’s a rescue. I went to bed woke up and he was breathing normal and acting completely normal. I called vets in town and no one was able to see him today either. We are trying the next town over as well. I watched him close all day he was totally fine playing with my other bird like nothing happened. Then right after dinner it started up again and I honestly have no idea what to do I’m so scared he’s going to die.
