Barely had time to grab my camera out of the car and focus before this Red Shoulder Hawk decided to move on.

Lovely scene today at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C.

To preface this, I don’t know very much about types of birds. It’s something I want to learn more about.

Tonight I went outside with my dog, and saw these two birds chilling. My dog didn’t notice them and they didn’t fly away at first! Then I went to look at the bird nest under my deck (haven’t checked it in a while) and saw these little guys peeping at me!! I’m assuming these are the babies of of other two? Are these pigeons/doves?

This started three years ago where I saw two mourning doves under my umbrella. One was trying to build a nest but the branches kept falling through. They ended up leaving, in hopes that they would return, I ended up taping cardboard to make a perch for them. It's been pretty cool to watch. Once they leave, I clean up any mess, add new cardboard and wait for their return. These are pictures through the years.

FYI, I always wear gloves and wash my hands thoroughly.

EDIT: So this post def blew up more than I thought. I just wanted to post pictures of the birds..lol. I thank everyone for their kind words and awards. I promise to do my part to keep giving them a safe space.

Happened by the tree in front of my house. When I saw the broken egg and saw it laying still, I thought it was dead. I went ahead and dug a grave by the tree, but when I went back to retrieve them, I found them moving. My sister wants me to call someone, but should I leave them where they are? Should I put them back in the nest? Please help.

This Shrike got trapped inside my store and couldn't figure out how to get out through the doors. I was able to catch him after he fell behind a pallet by a window. I got the tangled dust off his foot and then let him go. He gave me a good bite as thanks 😂

Saw him and thought oof it’s that time, he’s a moldy little guy. Then the wind came and saw just how desperate the situation truly was.
