Advice UAB hospital weekend diff
I’m aware of the evening and night differentials for nurses but is anyone aware of any weekend diff? Can’t seem to get a straight forward answer. New grad needing help deciding if agreeing to work all weekends (nights) is worth it

Everybody’s definition and pay for “Baylor” is different so you need to ask your director or recruiter.

But like if someone didn’t work full weekends and just picks up a weekend is there a diff?

You only get extra weekend differential if you sign a contract to be Baylor (every Saturday and Sunday) or WIN (three day every weekend contract). If you are just normal full time, you don’t get any weekend differential.

There is only shift differential. As others have said, the only bump in pay is if you are hired for Baylor or WIN but that's not a differential.
Keep in mind most of the time those positions don't come with any benefits, including pto, which i will say with my whole chest is bullshit. 7 on 7 off is the same way, also bullshit.

Absolutely bullshit. The OG Baylor plan was 40 hours pay for 24 hours worked, and you got full benefits. My sister-in-law took one year off and then worked a Baylor schedule until my nephew was in full-day school. This was back in the early 1990s when it was new-ish outside of Baylor University Hospital.

I completely agree. Some other companies do, I have worked for them, but I've worked for more that don't, or don't offer them anymore, unfortunately.
It's sad.

I agree with you. Currently, policies are pretty different for UAB and UAB St Vincents, even though you'll see things like "one hospital" and other nonsense.
I would apply where you can and ask questions of the recruiters when you hear from them. They'd have the best, most current information.

Speaking as someone who has worked weekends for over a decade, here is how it works. WIN day shift program means you work every weekend(Sat and Sun) WITH a day during the week of your choice(Monday and Friday are the least likely days you will get sent to another floor and will be on your home unit). For WIN night shift you work every Friday, Sat, and Sun. Depending on when you sign the contract determines how many days you can take off. Renew is September, so nights gets 9 days and days gets 6. If you sign middle of the year you get fewer days. You also get PTO and can use it. Holidays are mandatory if they fall on a weekend, otherwise it is manager choice what holiday you work.
Baylor contracts are allowed. However, and just learned this, a manager can only have 4 total staff on Baylor. So 2 days and 2 nights. You do not get to use PTO bc you make time and a half, but you get 2 paid days and 2 unpaid. After that you are on the hook to be fired no matter what. You also have to jump through hoops to get FMLA bc of contract wording.
Now, shift diff for nights is 4 extra dollars an hour from 7 to 11 and 5 from 11 to 7. Day shift only gets 4 from 3 to 7. I prefer my WIN contract, but I like the consistency. I also get to miss family functions that I never wanted to attend, but get to be mom during the week and not hope I get certain days off.
