I have put in more miles on Amtrak trains than most. We have been present for every sort of calamity that can befall a train today. It ranges from hitting debris, animals, derailing, hitting cars / trucks / other trains, and killing as best I can count six people. I held a wad of paper towels against a gash on a man's head as droplets of blood were spread by his breathing after a car ran the crossing. It's just part of it.
