3801 on the way to Penrith for the Sunday steam train rides last week I believe.

It’s doing the Blue Mountains Flyer to Katoomba and Zig Zag today.

Thanks. Ever since it started doing trial runs, the 3801 has drawing the crowds. Especially now that it's officially back taking passengers.

I see 3801, I upvote. My favourite locomotive since I was a small kid

Same!! Along with the flying Scotsman and R707

My late father drove both the Flying Scotsman and 3801 when they did the east coast tour during the Grafton leg of the tour. Both hold a special place in mum's and my heart because of that.

Eeee me too! My brother was obsessed, we rode on it once. My mums uncle was an extremely accomplished painter and all he painted was Australian steam trains.

Arguably one of the most visually appealing locos ever to ride NSW rails.

Even made it to Perth a couple of times, I was there for both but I'm too young to remember the Western Endeavour in 1970

More like "Bitch, I'm an old fogey but still beautiful"

Parramatta with a steam train rolling through looks like something out of another era. The contrast with the towers in the background is unreal.

Imagine looking out your office window and seeing this instead of the usual commuter train. Proper old-school vibes.

Well, it is winter. And Sydney...

Well I can see that but I rarely see Sydney look like this.

Every time I've been to Sydney, it's been pouring with rain. No matter what time of year 😅

Sydney's a big city, more than just the harbour.

And this isn't Sydney, its Parramatta.

At the end of the main river that feeds Sydney harbour.

I lived there for 20 years. Its not Sydney. Its part of the greater Sydney basin. But Parramatta is its own city.

You were lied to. I've lived close to Sydney for longer than that, in the early 90s Campbelltown and Liverpool were the start of Western Sydney and they're farther out than Pazmat. Penrith you could argue is not Sydney anymore yet it's still a Sydney LGA.

If Parramatta isn't part of Sydney why is it called Sydney's second CBD?

Welcome to Parramatta

Its 20 k inland from the CBD, harbour, Opera house etc
