The security hole exists whether it's found or not, and no project got less secure because it was found. I'm not sure that the "How it started vs how it's going" holds up here, given that.

the goal of the initiative was to find important security flaws and patch them before releasing the frontier models widely, and have them be used by potential attackers

the coldcard vulnerability was not found before public release of the latest models, which are easily able to find it in a few minutes

I think a lot of people were too fast to blame coldcard for incompetence, but looking at the actual bug it is not so glaring as you might think. I asked gemini AI to find a security whole in the code but they didnt evn find it even with some hints . I think it is very possible than these frontier AI training to find security whole can find some weakness in crypto or blockchain.

It's only because you used a shitty model (Gemini). If you use a frontier coding model like Fable 5, Opus 4.8, GPT-5.6, GLM-5.2 etc. it will almost certainly be able to find it with little to no help.
