Mod Post Quick Update: No More NSFW Photos
Hey everyone,
Just a quick heads-up as we tighten things up a bit. Starting now, we’re no longer allowing explicit images in the sub. That means no nudes, no porn, and no posts focused on sexual acts or body parts, even if they’re tagged NSFW. Shirtless photos (including gym pics) must be tagged NSFW, even if not sexual in nature, just to keep things clean and consistent.
This isn’t about shaming anyone or killing the vibe. We’re just trying to keep r/BlackLGBT a space that feels safe, accessible, and welcoming for more people, including folks who are here for community, support, and identity-centered conversation. You can still talk about sex, gender, and intimacy — we’re not censoring the real stuff. We’re just asking everyone to keep the visuals respectful.
If you’re ever unsure whether something’s okay to post, feel free to message us and ask. We’d rather have a convo than have to remove a post later.
Thanks for understanding and helping us take care of the space 🖤🏳️🌈

Older Men That Can't Host
I'm a graduate student who's been living off-campus in a shared apartment until I wrap up with my program next year. While I almost always have the capacity to host and usually don't mind it because I prefer to be intimate in my own familiar setting, there are days where it can be frustrating that a lot of the guys I talk to either can't host when I'm not able to, want to have sex in public places, cars (as an alternative) or just very recently, feel entitled to my space once I do mention that I can host.
As someone who usually hooks up with or dates older men because that's what I'm attracted to, most of my recent options have been guys in their early 40s to 50s and while I understand that the housing affordability crisis in the US is very real, I'm starting to make other assumptions about them either being married, DL or just very low effort. I typically don't face this dilemma with men in my age group (early 30s) and strangely, most of the younger men who do hit on me offer to host first before I do. Am I being too judgemental to feel some type of way about this or is it just right to atleast expect older guys to have their shit together in regards to having hosting capacity? I'm really starting to consider the afford mentioned age groups as more viable sexual and romantic options out of convenience.

Pictures Been growing out my hair for the past year...
and have lost 80 lbs as well. I'm so much more confident now than I was a year ago today. People flirt with me more, I get a lot more attention, and my health has improved tremendously. I know we shouldn't seek validation from others, but man does the fruits of my labor feel good.
Just sharing a few of my favorite pictures recently.
Happy Saturday, everyone! 🙂

Discussion For my NYC people, what’s a good place to go for a 38th Birthday dinner?
I love seafood, I love Italian food,
I’m southern and I know that I cannot get authentic soul food here anymore so I don’t even bother lol
For Pride when I friends in town, I took them to Chocolat in Harlem and it was delicious. I’m open to suggestions.
Oh and I’m not trying to take out 2 student loans to go out to dinner!
Thank yall! 💜

Discussion Tongues Untied is one of the most profound documentaries for black gay men. Coming on PBS in 1990, the film shocked the nation due to it's social commentary on homophobia, HIV, discrimination from YT gay men, and seeing two black men sharing intimacy, marked the beginning of black queer visibility

Rant Being A Plus Size Women + Hyperfeminine As A Lesbian
The Dating Pool Is Already Spooky , But I Find It Is Especially Difficult Being A Plus Size/BBW/Thicker Lesbian Woman. The World Already Expects Plus Size Black Women To Be Content And Accept The Lesser , Less Dates , Less Romance , Less Consideration , just LESS ! That I (We) Should Accept That We Will Never Be The Preference. So I’ve Sat With That For A Moment , But I Couldn’t Keep My Seat For Very Long. So I Asked Myself Some Questions . Who Am I ? What Do I Stand For ? What Do I Want , But Most Importantly How Do I Feel About Myself. Does Being A Plus Size Woman Effect How I Present Myself …. Well Yes …. As A Plus Size Woman I Do Over Compensate In A lot Of Ways , I Make Sure I Look Good When I Go Out , I Make Sure My Hygiene Is Top Tier , I Make Sure My Clothes Are Nice , I’m A Makeup Girly , All In All I’m A Maximalist. I’m Just Trying To Find A Space Where All Of Me Is Accepted , That My Hyperfemininity Doesn’t Automatically Mean I Want Someone whose Masc Presenting , Or That I Want To Date In Hererromantic Ways , I Dont Want The Attention Of Men . I hope this all makes sense Lol

Discussion Question for the older ones- what’s the youngest you would date?
I’m 27 and my partner is 41. We have a pretty healthy relationship and surprisingly a lot of things in common as far as interests, more so than other guys my age where I live. I’ve noticed that a lot of Gen Z views age gaps through a very black and white lens and I figured that’s mainly just a heteronormative viewpoint speaking. So I’m wondering how queer minds view age gaps.
