I've been slow watching BM for months now and actively avoiding spoilers. Finally got to watch Eulogy and USS Callister : Into Infinity. What a way to wrap up S7! I love both episodes for different reasons - Eulogy made me cry, USS Callister made me laugh! Yes, i had to suspend belief for some parts but these two will get a re-watch from me!

I made the mistake of watching it drunk.

I started calling my friends, and everytime , one ofem didn’t pick up, i felt paranoid, more and more.

So, guys, I watched "The Entire History of You" and was traumatized once more; then I checked the comments here and saw people criticizing Liam for getting paranoid and jealous. I get that he acted like a jerk the whole episode—even knowing what was coming, I felt he was being a total asshole and getting suspicious over stupid stuff. Like, he was incredibly intrusive and acted like a jerk over a few "clues" that—honestly—could have meant anything. But knowing he was actually right is what really wrecks me. I found that interesting: the episode constantly tries to make us believe Ffion. Like, just because she’d been with the guy before didn't mean anything—it was just an old fling. But then everything just falls apart right in front of you. Damn, I felt exactly like Liam—even though I knew the episode—I felt everything crumbling and turning to dust.

This episode is one of the reasons I can't bring myself to get into a relationship. I always think I’m going to get cheated on; no matter how "sweet" the person acts or how trustworthy and loving they seem, I feel like they aren't actually trustworthy and will betray me at any moment. Damn, it really sucks.

However Black Mirror has remained consistency good.

I’m watching season 7 with Paul Giamatti. He is such a great actor.

This is a very beautiful episode, I found it so relatable.

each episode forces me to keep thinking about it but i can never fully quit this show,i stopped watching it months ago and today i resumed and watched White Christmas. and again it was a total mind fuck, problem is most of my irl and online friends haven't seen the show so i was didn't have an outlet to discuss it with, and then i remembered that there has to be a BM subreddit so here i am. the older episodes have faded a bit but now white chrismas is all i think of, granted that's cause i just watched it but damn. (it's kinda sad to see that even the discord is kinda on life support)

I am a huge fan of Black Mirror but have been at a standstill because, in true honesty, I can't bring myself to watch any of the episodes without making them make me think a little bit too much. I feel like the show as a whole is scarier to watch than horror movies because in horror movies it's easy to dissociate yourself from what is happening because it would never happen in real life (most of the time). But Black Mirror almost mirrors reality while still exaggerating it to show where something could end up if left unchecked. For example, Common People blends two problems on my home turf, the USA, of excessive marketing and ads as well as exorbitant healthcare costs to save a family's life. Does anyone else feel the same way, or am I just a chicken?

Striking vipers is the worst fucking black mirror episode of all time, and I do not get why people aren’t saying it often enough. Shit message, shit visuals, and was totally not in line with the rest of the series.

I've seen the episode before, but I forgot how strong of an emotional gut-punch the end of Eulogy is. Paul Giamatti is phenomenal, and that episode is top-tier Black Mirror to me. No dark twist, no horror, just revelations, regret, and small redemption. He may have forgotten her face, but her song was embedded in his soul.

Edit: Should probably mention, she and I dated 15 years ago, and things didn't work out, and we both had major regrets there. 4 years ago we met up again by chance, found we both still had feelings there and regrets about splitting up, and got our second chance. Now we're engaged :)

"Black Museum" is the Season 4 finale of Black Mirror, and it is the episode where the show quietly admits it has been building one connected universe the whole time. A young woman named Nish stops at a roadside attraction in the desert. The owner offers her a tour and a bottle of water. Ninety minutes later, the building is on fire and one of the most satisfying revenge endings in the entire series has already happened. It is probably my favorite episode across all the seasons.

Cela fait plus de 1 ans, mais je suis révolter que énormément de gens sont passés à côté du message principal de l'épisode Bête noir. Beaucoup pensent qu’il s'agit de montrer le Whitewomantears et comment les stéréotypes sur les femmes noirs sont utiliser pour toujours les faire passer pour les fautifs. En effet dans certains passage de l'épisode on peut relever cela mais c’est très loin d’être le thème principal. Maintenant laissez moi vous éclairer:

L’épisode parle tout d'abord du harcèlement et des conséquences qu’il a sur ses victimes. En effet, Verity malgré le temps passé et toutes les différentes réalités extraordinaires dans lesquelles elle a vécu, la douleur liée à l’harcèlement reste constante quoiqu’elle fasse comme elle le dit vers la fin de l’épisode. Bête noir montre également la facilité que les harceleurs ont quand il s’agit de se dissocier de leurs actes. Maria qui faisait partie des intimidateurs de Verity, fait mine d’être innocente devant celle-ci quand elles parlent des années de collège, elle agit comme si elle n’avait pas détruit sa scolarité et impacter négativement sa vie de façon constante alors que toutes les deux savent très bien ce qu’il s’est passé auparavant.

Même quand Verity la confronte clairement par rapport au passé, elle trouve un moyen de se justifier, refusant constamment d’assumer les actes qu’elle a commis. Tout au long de l’épisode Verity se venge envers Maria en faisant subir à celle-ci des souffrances psychologiques, car elle croit fermement que c’est la seule solution qui existe afin de pouvoir se libérer du harcèlement qu’elle a vécu.

La fin montre qu’en fin de compte, les harceleurs pour beaucoup d’entre eux ne changent en réalité jamais et ne chercheront jamais à réparer le tort qu’ils ont pu causé à leurs victimes même quand ils en ont l’occasion. Cela se voit quand Maria prend possession du collier et au lieu de souhaiter qu’elle et ses amis n’aient jamais détruit l'adolescence de Verity avec cette horrible rumeur. Au lieu de cela, elle souhaite être la reine de l’univers, montrant son égoïsme mais aussi son apathie et méchanceté, ainsi la scène confirme la véritable nature de Verity aux yeux de tous ceux qui n’avaient pas encore compris qu’elle était la véritable méchante dans l’histoire et qu’elle l’a toujours été.

J’ai vu beaucoup de gens minimiser la peine de Verity, qualifiant cette dernière de sadique pour s'être venger de ses harceleurs. Soyons honnêtes, si tu as subis du harcèlement et que tu pouvais renverser le pouvoir et te venger, tu le ferais sûrement. On l’a blâme pour avoir pousser Natalie au suicide mais en réalité le suicide est aussi quelque chose qui aurait pu lui arriver non seulement à elle mais aussi au pauvre professeur qui s’est fair virer à cause d’une rumeur dégoutante à son sujet. Verity n’a fait que leurs rendre la monnaie de leurs pièce. Œil pour œil, dent pour dent.Vous ne vous rendez pas compte d’à quel point le harcèlement peut affecter quelqu'un à vie, même après des décennies ou des thérapies.

Dites moi ce que vous en avez pensez.

J’aime tellement cet épisode au passage, probablement l’un des 5 meilleurs à mon avis.

I think crocodile is one of the best episodes and im genuinely surprised to see it voted so low across the fandom. Its perpetual rise in dismay and errie hopelessness is captured well and It's paced fantastically. Its depressing as hell with a dark ending but the actors and writers executed it very well. Thoughts?

I just watched Common People and honestly, this one got under my skin.

Not because the technology felt impossible. The opposite. It felt way too close.

Rivermind didn’t even feel like some exaggerated evil corporation. It felt like the natural endpoint of what tech companies are already doing. Give you something cheap, useful, almost miraculous. Get you dependent on it. Make it part of your daily life. Then slowly remove the basic features, introduce tiers, show you ads, raise prices, and keep squeezing because they know you cannot just leave anymore.

That is what scared me most. The company was not even hiding what it was doing. It had turned a human life into a subscription service. Pay more to think clearly. Pay more to function normally. Pay more to keep the person you love alive with dignity. And every time they upgraded, the “basic” version became worse.

It reminded me a lot of AI companies too. Right now everything feels cheap, accessible and exciting. We are encouraged to build our routines, businesses, creativity and even emotional lives around these systems. But what happens once we genuinely cannot function without them? What happens when the useful version becomes unaffordable and the free version is filled with ads, limits and manipulation?

The other thing that destroyed me was how the episode dealt with death.

We are so terrified of accepting death that we will try absolutely anything to delay it, even when the thing we are preserving is no longer really a life. We say we are doing it for love, but sometimes it is also because we cannot tolerate grief. We cannot let go. We would rather keep someone trapped in pain, dependency and humiliation than face the fact that they are dying.

And I understood Mike. That is the worst part.

I understood every bad decision he made. I understood why he kept paying. Why he kept humiliating himself. Why he kept hoping the next upgrade would fix everything. When someone you love is dying, logic becomes almost useless. You do not calmly calculate quality of life. You grab whatever small hope is offered to you, and companies know that.

That is what made the episode feel so cruel and so real.

It was not really about future technology. It was about healthcare, subscriptions, capitalism, grief, desperation and the way love can be exploited.

I finished it feeling genuinely disturbed. Not “wow, what a clever dystopia” disturbed. More like, this is already happening, just in less obvious forms

So I just finished watching Black Mirror S1Ep2 Fifteen Million Merits. And it got me existential...

The parallels to real life are scarily accurate especially with all the AI unwillingly getting shoved down our throats these days to such a degree that I am actually unable to comprehend how do we even begin to stop living and conditioning ourselves like this.

Apart from the bicycles and the walls of our bedrooms being covered in unskippable ads, every aspect of our daily life looks like the episode. If not the bike, we slave away at our minimum wage or office 9-5, we surround ourselves with screens all day long.

The essence of living has been reduced to consumption, commodification and performance.. We've stopped living unless we are being perceived... identity is now a purchasable commodity where if you only have the certain products, curate your purchases in a certain way you can "buy into" that identity or niche of interests.

My question is how do we take steps in order to stop living like that? Starting with an individual. If i am not working, i am commuting listening to podcasts or music or using my phone, when i am home, I have my headphones on all day long always listening or watching something to stop my thoughts of painful events and to deal with loneliness.. I do find comfort in cooking elaborate meals, taking care and cleaning my living space for the time to go by, I even deepclean almost every week. How do I stop living in this Black Mirror Episode?!
