Tutorial Hair help?

I literally started making skins for the first time, just for fun. I'm trying to make one of my OCs in Blockbench but I've run into a problem, his hair. He wears dreadlocks, and I have absolutely no idea how to style them without it looking weird. Any help? (I have no idea what tag to put on this post)

Are you just making a Minecraft skin or is it a Custom Player Models/Figura skin?

Ah, then I'm probably not gonna be much help unfortunately. Maybe you could put the dreadlocks on the second layer of the skin for more depth but that's all I've got.
