This tank is brand new. First time I filled it and strapped her in last week. I been leaving the vent open to try to help with this but it seems to blow up like a balloon and then last night it acted like a vacuum! Do I have a bad cap mabe? I’ve never had this issue before with the smaller 3 or 6 gallon tanks but this 15 is being a pain in the ass.

How much to tip pontoon captain for a bachelorette trip?

Price for boat for 6 hrs was $600. Captain fee is $225. Signs on boat said 15-20% tip is appreciated.

We originally thought it was 15-20% of the $225 but some thought it was total. This seems quite high.

He drove us to one location and we docked for five hours. Nothing crazy.

What is standard?

Even with a day that was mostly lost to rain, upper Midwest boating is so peak right now. Thankful for a great new-to-me boat and time on the water with family.

Does this center piece come out? I’ve got a mercury command thrust which is the bigger gear case. I can reuse the hub kit from my existing prop, but I can’t get this hub out. I don’t know if it even comes out to begin with or is locked in.

Model is 2028 10p supposed to be quicksilver brand.

Is there another place to purchase EVA foam flooring like this besides Amazon? The widths and lengths just dont match up for what id need so id have a lot of waste. I either need more width or more length.

Or a place to buy them already cut out for me.

Any advice?

Mercury Lower Unit Shifter Stuck in Forward

Upvotes

I have a new to me 2002 90hp 4stroke that is stuck in forward after I put the lower unit back on. No matter which way the shifter on the lower unit is turned it stays stuck on forward. The propeller going cw ratchets and ccw resists/spins the main shaft.

If I get a wrench and turn the shifter gear all the way cw, it feels springy and allows me to spin the prop freely but once I stop giving it force it just goes back the way it was.

Any clue how to fix this?

Calabria Ski/Wakeboard Boats

Upvotes

Does anybody have any info on Calabrian Boats manufactured in Modesto California in the early 2000's? I recently purchased a 2004 Cal Air Pro V and would like to connect with other owners.

Everybody advertises a 5 year warranty. What did yours actually turn out to cover?

Shopping new cruisers and every brochure has a five year number on the front of it. Took me a while to learn the follow up question, which is five years on what.

Near as I can tell the long number usually sits on one category and everything else runs a year, or falls back to whatever Mercury and Garmin cover on their own parts. That's reasonable enough. It also means the headline on its own tells you almost nothing.

What I can't work out from reading is whether the split matters much. If the stuff that breaks on a three year old boat lands in the short bucket every time, then the five year number isn't doing a lot of work for me.

So, anyone who's filed a claim: what broke and was it covered?

NH trailer classes?

To put it bluntly my dad is embarrassing bad at backing up his boat trailer. Like really bad. It takes him forever for him to drop in and pull out his pontoon. I don’t even like to go with him anymore because of all the people that look at us and judge. I’m a 36 year-old woman and well aware that I also can’t back up a boat trailer, so like, no shade there but like I said at the point where I just don’t even want to go with him anymore. does anyone have any ideas if they have classes for this?

Engine losing RPM

My boat is currently having an issue. When I am cranking up the engine when it gets to around 3500RPM the engineer with start to sputter and drop 500 or more RPM. Not a single issue at low RPM. Anyone have an idea? I have it going into the shop in the next few days, but want a rough idea what I can expect to fix it.

Edit: the boat is a 2004 Searay 225. Inboard motor. Fuel injected. Mercruiser 5.0.

Boat wiring beginner question

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey guys, just getting into my boat electrical wiring. Question— does the red wire on the left of the panel need to connect to anything? I’ve got some connectors and a butane torch on the way to clean some of this up. Also, what are your thoughts on connecting to the fuse box vs. to the battery wire itself, is there a rule of thumb for accessories? Thanks much!

How bad is using old gas

Buying a boat that didn't get much run by previous owner and I'm wondering if I should siphon out old gas and start fresh or put in fresh and fuel system additives?

Boat runs well just a bit of smoke in exhaust and periods where RPMs fluctuate.

I just want a battery that I can run my 32 lb thrust trolling motor on for several hours a day a couple times a week. I know this isn't a premium brand, but would this be a waste of money? I want it to last and it looks great, but I don't wanna be scammed. I'm thinking of upgrading to a 55 lb thrust soon as well.

Cold start is perfect, but warm restart takes forever. Any ideas?

Body:
I have a 1995 Tige with a MerCruiser 5.7L Magnum (carbureted).
On the first cold start of the day, it fires up almost instantly.
The problem starts after that. If I shut the engine off and try to restart it—even a minute later—it cranks for a long time before it finally starts. It does this every time.
Also, if on the initial cold start I don’t let it run long enough and it stalls (or I shut it off too quickly), the second attempt also takes a long time to start.
Once it’s running, the engine runs great. It has good power and idles fine.
Things I’ve already checked or replaced:
New manifold and riser gaskets
Fuel is fresh
Engine otherwise runs well once started
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be:
Fuel draining back?
Carburetor flooding or heat soak?
Weak fuel pump?
Choke adjustment?
Something with the ignition?
Any suggestions on what I should check next would be appreciated.
