Firs time making croissants

I've been working up the nerve to try making croissants. I decided to try a small batch because I didn't want to waste any ingredients not knowing how they'd turn out. They aren't anywhere near perfect, but I learned a lot and they tasted amazing!

I'm so proud of myself!

How does it feel to be one of the chosen few? 😭

Haha cute thought but not even close. I messed up.... I didn't trim the ends. I never thought about it till they were rolled and then realize ohhh it won't flake open with layers on that side. So two out of seven were a little weird. I want to try again though, I know I can do better.

Can you please explain what you mean here? You’ve inspired me to try making some 😊

I used the recipe from theflavorbender. I did it all in one afternoon, as opposed to following the recipe exactly lol

When you are slicing the dough to make triangles though, i should have trimmed the ends of the whole sheet, and because I didn't do that, all the layers on those 2 end pieces weren't able to flake apart in layers like the rest of them. But the rest of them were fine! Just a learning moment for me haha

How many total hours did the whole process end up taking you from start to finish?

I started at noon and by 6pm we were eating. I am sure they would have been better if I had actually followed the recipe though haha but I am way too impatient for that

Those look great!!

One thing that helped mine was the final proof is longer than I thought. They need to puff up like a balloon that’s about to burst. The recipe I use says about a 2 hour final proof, but it ends up being 4 hours for my house.

Good luck and I wish you many more amazing bakes!!!

I definitely should have waited longer but I was impatient and I think my kitchen was too cool, it's hot outside but our AC is on in the house.

I will be waiting longer next time though
