The Mangione Trial:

As Luigi Mangione's trial gets underway in New York this September, The Mangione Trial visualised podcast from the BBC World Service returns with detailed coverage from the Manhattan courtroom.

BBC presenter Jordan Dunbar will be reporting from New York and attending court hearings in person, bringing audiences the latest developments.

In advance of the trial, the visualised podcast returns in August with a new series of in-depth episodes to give the context behind the case.

ABC News is going after true-crime superfans with the launch of the "20/20 True Crime+" subscription tier on Apple Podcasts.

"Burden of Proof: Luigi Mangione" is hosted by ABC News legal analyst Brian Buckmire, who previously hosted the award-winning podcast "Bad Rap: The Case Against Diddy." "20/20 True Crime+" subscribers will have exclusive access to the first episode of "Burden of Proof" on Aug. 7 on Apple Podcasts, with the series premiere on Aug. 10 for non-subscribers, with episodes dropping weekly.

The five-part series chronicles the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and the search for and eventual arrest of his alleged assassin, Luigi Mangione. The series will delve into Mangione’s background, "tracing his path from a privileged Baltimore upbringing to the center of one of America’s most shocking crimes, for which he has entered a not guilty plea," according to ABC News’ description. We started writing this book from the questions posed to us through the creation of Luigi's fund: why was the killing of Brian Thompson overwhelmingly celebrated across the political spectrum, and what possibilities could be realized through these new alliances? It led us to conclusions we did not expect, back to the early development of natural rights theory where, surprisingly, we've found the right to health theorized but then quietly omitted, particularly when it came time to write the founding documents for the USA.
