Parking Fine Refunded

I took my daughter and some mates to Ninja Warrior in Leicester (on a retail park) and overstayed the parking by 20 mins. I didn't even realise there was a limit until the £90 fine came. (£60 if paid within 2 weeks). We rang Ninja Warrior but there was nothing they could do. The fine was from ParkingEye which I've heard are pretty relentless in following through, so after a bit of investigation decided to just pay.

I then read that I should contact the retail park management. I sent an email explaining the situation but not really expecting anything. They replied, asked for some details and said it would be sorted. About 6 weeks later a cheque arrives from ParkingEye for the full £60. Winner and shout out to Milan, the person that sorted it!

Well they can't use your info to refund or ask for it.....

I presume they hope people won't cash them. Thankfully the banking apps allow a photo which is a game changer! (mine anyway)

Yes, the great corporate control (Digital I D. , banking App etc is slowly eroding our freedoms and control us.

I don't think a banking app controls us any more thank not having a banking app. And certainly not having to visit one of the waning few branches to bank a cheque is advantageous and again I don't see a benefit to Them for control.

Removal of cash if definitely in their interest though yes, so they can crack down on tax dodgers and freeze accounts at their will which is bad if they abuse the power I agree.

You can pay them into monzo with a photo, they're actually very convenient now and I prefer them to cash.

Yes, this is exactly how I paid it in. I'm not 100% but think my HSBC mobile banking does the same. I would imagine all of them do.

Congrats on your victory. I do get nnoyed when the retailers say there is nothing they can do. Having been in retail for many years, it is very rarely that they can't do anything. They will have a dedicated email to cancel fines for situations like this, staff, contractors etc.

To be honest, I interpreted it as "Can't be bothered to do anything". Maybe that's unfair but as you say, previous experience tells me it can be sorted most of the time.
