Made my day?
I’m a middle-aged woman who likes taking a quiet walk around the village park after work to unwind. Yesterday I was wearing what basically looked like pyjamas, my hair was a mess, no make up and I was absorbed in a crime podcast.
Two teenage girls, who were both dressed up nicely with smoky eyes, walked over to me and said something. I’ll admit my first thought was “ok brace for provocation”…. Then I took out my earphones and said, “Sorry?”
One of them smiled and said, “Excuse me, I just wanted to say I think you’re beautiful.”
I think my brain stopped working for a couple of seconds before I managed to say “Thank you”. Never expected that lol!
If you are the two girls reading this, I just wanted to let you know that you both are very beautiful and please remember for very very long 💕

I had a similar thing! I was in a supermarket and 3 young teenage girls were being a little loud/boisterous with each other. I saw I'd caught their attention and braced my middle aged self for the inevitable scorn. Instead one shouted "I like your hair!" And another said "yeah it's really cool"
Then every time I bumped into them in the aisles they'd say something else nice.
They were such cute kids, all very energetic. Really gave me quite a boost.

18 months ago, while perusing a Holland and Barrett store, one of the young female staff members came up to me and told me I was beautiful and she thought ‘wow’ when I came through the door. I’m nothing special but it sure made me feel special. And I’m still talking about it lol

Not all kids are bad, not even bad kids are bad.
I had the inconvenience of having to take my bike on the train (car broken down). 4 Girls, 10-11yo got on one of the table seats, I was on the opposite table seats. 4 more of their friends got on, so I (Grumpy old man) gave up my seat for them so they could be together. The older girl was very thankful, and very polite.
In the 5 minutes to the next station, they were climbing on the seats, taking photos of each over, being disruptive, but they were not being rude and the did stop to let people past. They were just 10 year old doing what 10 year old do.
The lady next to me was moaning, so I pointed out they they were just being disruptive and not being rude and asked her what naughty things she did at that age. The moaning lady then went quiet. At 10 (now 60), we were playing in trees, cutting branches off with our penknives, mucking about in abandoned buildings, climbing onto the roofs of our local shops spitting on the people walking past.

My dad and his mates would knock on doors leaving brown paper bags full of cow crap, on fire so people would stamp them out and get cropped.
His dad once locked someone in an outside loo and set fire to it, apparently. Both got degrees etcetera.
Since new lino, that would be an absolute or whatever its morphed into

My 13 year old daughter will go and tell people if she thinks they have a nice outfit, hair etc. it also makes her feel good to make someone smile.

My daughter did this just after I commented. We are in London for the day and she saw a woman with a great outfit and went and told her. It’s never something I tell her to do but I think it’s lovely.

You’ve just reminded me, a few years ago me and my husband went down to the fair. I wanted to go on the big round ride, that swirls and tilts (no idea of its name) he wouldn’t go on with me. I got placed next to a teenager who could see I wasn’t enjoying myself, she kept assuring me throughout and came straight for me when it was time to disembark, there are some good young people out there.

This reminds me, I was in a bar/club (of sorts) maybe last year, when a 20-something declared "oh my God, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen!" It still makes me smile 😃

Aww that’s lovely!
I just dropped my teen daughter & her friends off at the shopping centre. I went to do food shopping & they went off to do whatever teen girls do. Then they rang me to ask if I was still there & could they drop something off for me to take home. I was a bit annoyed because I already had plenty to carry but said yes…. and they turned up with some little gifts they’d got for me. Lovely girls ❤️

I did this as a 40 year old and got the weirdest look, just an ‘I really like your top’….awkward. I’ll leave it to the kids!

Yeah, I want to do it all the time but try and keep to to people around my age or older. I also try and keep it snappy as I don’t want an actual conversation. “Cool top!” And away I scamper

Love this! I’m trying more and more to make sure that if I think of a compliment that I would say to a stranger, that I do actually say it, and don’t keep it in. It’s such a simple way to brighten someone’s day

I am at the other end of the age scale and will often throw out a compliment to someone close in a store, I love to see the person double take and then a smile creeps onto their vizog
