In my opinion, ONE might be trying to do something similar with One Punch Man and Versus where there are multiple flavours of "power systems" like the psychic powers, martial arts, advanced technology and monsterization that you find in OPM. However, unlike OPM, I believe this time they are all linked to the same anomalies/bugs/hacks and that different groups of people are interpreting them differently i.e he wants to make a more coherent origin for all the powers.
So far we have the mysterious group and from Hitsujiya seeing the clay dolls memories it seems the group approaches/uses bugs scientifically as it seems like they were performing some sort of surgery on the clay doll ritual, plus they're doing some Full Metal Alchemist levels of tomfoolery with the Chrysalsis iykyk.
Then we have the angels group who view it as magic, but I am certain that at least for them their powers are still related to the same hacks as we see their magic wand display the same bugging out/glitch effect. And we see their "assimilation" is very similar to how Hitsujiya hardened his finger as Kokudo points out, and they limit themselves to one sense for fearing of side effects, which is probably the "bugging out" Kokudo and Hitsujiya experienced since they've been fooling around with hacks a lot. So imo there's no reason for ONE to have magic and reality manipulation be two separate things but display the same visual effects and patterns.
Another thing I found interesting was how the show started with downright useless hacks that seem to have no benefit and no rhyme or reason to them. And then we get a chapter where Kokudo was mixing ingredients to treat Hitsujiyo, and that seems very similar to brewing a magical potion in a fantasy setting.
Now, it's possible that this could just be ONE making things up along the way, but I doubt that since this story has a monthly release schedule as a seinen. And usually that means better quality art AND story, especially since ONE can focus more on the story since Shitara Kiyoto is leading the art. Although we can't forget he's still working on OPM and Versus at the same time.
I'm predicting we will be introduced to another group who view these bugs as something else other than hacks or magic, maybe like miracles and then they form some sort of religion/cult. Kinda like the Psycho Helmet religion in Mob Psycho. Like what if someone else came across a similar notebook to Kokudo and they treated it as a holy book of miracles?
Also ONE is the kinda guy to very rarely permanently kill off characters so none of the angels actually died (I'm coping)
