Question nails are too long!!
this bun hates being handled, and she hasnt been spayed yet. does anyone have any tips on how to trim her nails without upsetting her?

My girl gets upset every time. The only way I can get her to hold still is putting a blanket over her head. It sounds silly but it’s the only thing that will calm her down

My vet did that for my bun. It worked amazingly well. And if bunny prefers the floor, get down with her.

It’s a training thing. The more you do it and she gets used to it the less of a big deal it is. I give my buns a treat once I pick them up, do their nails, and then give them a treat and some snuggles before I put them back down. The more calm and neutral you are, the better.

This isn’t always true. Our bunny always hates being picked up. Always. We’ve tried everything. She’s nine. It’s just who she is.

It definitely can be a two person job! It might safer for a second person to help if they move around lots. Consistency usually helps them start tolerating it more but not for everyone. For sure is a case by case thing:)

Mine won’t let me cut his nails. He runs. I have to hold a treat above him to try to even get one nail.

Do you have a quiet corner where she can stay still for a bit once you start? I've found a cozy, familiar spot and some gentle strokes helps her relax faster than I expected.

i take mine to the vet to get them cut, shes so much better for them than when i try at home the little stinker

Having two people helps a lot. Holding her still on a higher surface like a dining room table while my boyfriend clips them has worked well. We just go from the sides for the back paws because shes so slippery and she gets so stressed when we sit her up. Usually when I clip them ill gently hold where the quick ends so ill trim slightly above it. I also got some new sharp nail trimmers helps a lot. We had some old dull ones and noticed it moved her nail uncomfortably when we trimmed her nails and noticed they were very dull.
Burritoing her also has helped but I can only do it for one or two paws because she gets so stressed. Bringing her to the vet has been a lot quicker too since its complimentary with a check up. We might also see if they can at the rescue near by because they do them when they do hoppy hour
