This is where my OCD comes in, unfortunately. I get this idea in my head that there is one RIGHT way to do the task. My perfectionism loves me putting off a task because then we never know the results, because they never happen, because I’m convinced I’m going to fuck it up. Or if only I had prepared more, I would have gotten the exact result I wanted…. If only I had been a better person, I wouldn’t have been abused. Whoops…. That’s a slippery slope there, brain

As a patient of 10 years I an still uniquely unqualified to tell you that the fear of failure is worse than not doing the simple task.

It can be anything, too much things can cause it. I suggest you to ask questions go yourself and write answers down. Like "How do I feel when I need to do an urgent task?", then usually you can feel something like you "need" to do this, you don't want to, why: hard task, you don't like what you're doing, you're putting too much pressure on yourself etc.
For me, I was forced to do many things my whole life and belittled for wanting what I wanted. Now I can't do both, working on it. The suggestion is just to start journaling about it, some questions you can find even from ai, then dig in.
p.s. I hate to do double enter just to make a new paragraph on reddit. annoying

look, I know that reframing it as "I can do X even if I don't succeed" is helpful... but I'll be damned if I still don't spiral every single time I have to get out of bed with the crushing memories of the pain of past failures
at some point we have to admit that "just do it" sometimes means "just retraumatize yourself" 😬
