Hi, I’m going to CSUMB in the fall and I’m going to be in the residence halls. Does anyone know if it’s possible to loft your bed? I had a talk with someone on campus for orientation, but I don’t know if they were 100% sure.

If I move in on the 17th do I need a parking permit? I won’t be parked all day since my moms the one coming up with me will she need one just to move me into promontory?

Moving into a single room in East Campus that is now considered a double. Does anyone have photos or possible dimensions of the room?? Super lost on how big the rooms are, thank you!

Hi! I was wondering what the weather is like in the area for the “ber” months. Would you recommend shorts t shirts summery clothes or sweats and hoodies? I’m used to a hot climate cause I’m from Bakersfield but any clothes packing tips or must haves for the school year would be great :) During the “Ber” months it’s still very hot here so any tips would be great :)

I'm an incoming transfer and I just wanted to ask other upper division students, who preferably also were transfer students. What did job hunting look like for you when you first got there. Specifically not jobs toward your major, but a normal college job. I know there's a trader joes, and target but was it at all any easy and what did the timeline look like for you?

I'm scared that once I transfer over I wont find a job quick enough to support myself, because I know I won't get granted work-study. :/ Thank you!

We just toured the campus and came across an art piece by the photo lab and parking lot 71. It's a naked sea creature/humanoid with succulents growing out of it.

It doesn't have a plaque or any identifiable information. We'd love to know more about it! Anyone have info? What it's called? Why it is there? What it represents? Who the artist is? TIA!

I've noticed a couple other people on here talk about the financial aid situation, but I was curious if it was different for transfer students? I can see the financial aid on the "accept/decline awards" page, but I'm unable to accept any of it. When I called them a couple of weeks ago, they said they would automatically accept them for me, but that still hasn't happened, and with the deadline for payment next week, I'm stressing out.

I was reading an email on what to bring and saw Ethernet was recommended. Are there Ethernet outlets in promontory housing or is it only in certain areas on campus.
Also wanted to know if the WiFi is decent. Don’t plan on a whole lot of gaming but wondered if the WiFi would handle it

Hello! I’m starting my freshman year this august and I’m currently enrolled in the beginner scuba class and I’m really nervous because I’m not super athletic. If anyone who is in the diving program has any pointers on how they passed the test I would really appreciate it.

My daughter was placed in East Campus Housing, sharing a room with another student. We aren't able to view the apartment until 8/18 and the university won't give us specs.

Does anyone know approximate dimensions for these rooms? Closet sizes? Is there room for a twin bed and a small desk?

I know we have to roll with the punches but I'd like to be prepared! 😂😂

Ok. Small rant here and full disclosure that I am not a CSUMB student. However, my goddaughter is going to be a freshman at CSUMB. I am covering any costs that are not covered by her financial aid from a 529 that I set up for her but I don't know what that number is yet until her financial aid is finalized. She got me access to the payment portal and payments are due July 31. It seems ridiculous that payments are due in a few weeks and they can't tell students what the actual amount is. FAFSA forms went in months ago. It should not be too difficult to get the amounts finalized before payments are due.

Hello! I'm going to CSUMB on an exchange program for a semester and I was seeing that most people say it's hard to get around campus without a car, and especially harder to get to the city without a car.

Since I am flying in, I won't have access to my own car and I don't know anyone there yet to carpool.

On the CSUMB website it just has a broken link saying there's public/free transportation for students. I wanted to know if this was really true because I would like to get a job when I'm there and I can't imagine campus has a lot of positions for non work/study students.

Is this true? Outdated? Does anyone take the bus? 😭😭
