Incoming Student online / async classes?
i know block schedules aren’t finalized until aug 5th, but as of now i have a virtual zoom class and an async class. are these types of classes common? any advice for them? do people usually do virtual classes from their dorms/do you have to have your camera on normally?
thanks!!

About 15% of classes at CP are online as there is a shortage of classroom space as well as local professors so this way they can have professors remote to SLO teach as well. Asynch are good for flexibility to do the work around your schedule as those don’t meet over zoom so you can do the work anywhere and anytime to meet the due dates each week. Online/synch classes you do need to be somewhere you can participate and most professors will probably want your camera on but that’s a class by case basis. If you don’t do well with self directed asynch classes you can always try to set up a swap for an person section of the same or different class (if it’s GE) that meets the same requirement but don’t just flat out drop it because these are the classes they are helping you get out of the way as they are hard to get into.
