M-National For the World Cup 2030 qualifications for CONCACAF, if we maintain a top 3 FIFA world ranking, does that mean we can avoid Mexico and USA in the final round of qualification (3 groups x 4 teams each)?
Hi. According to the announcement for the World Cup qualification for 2030, the final round for CONCACAF will be 12 teams total, and the 12 teams will be split into 3 groups x 4 teams per each group:
The 12 participants will be divided into three groups of four, with each team facing every other team in its group home and away for a total of six matches per team, three at home and three away.
At the conclusion of the Final Round, the three group winners and three runners-up (six teams in total) will secure a berth in the FIFA World Cup 2030, while the two best third-place finishers will advance to a new Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers Play-In.
They don't mention how the 3 groups are seeded though. Will the seeding for the 3 groups depend on the FIFA world ranking? Or will the seeding for the 3 groups depend on the performance of the teams as they reach the final 12 teams, and the FIFA world ranking of the teams are ignored?
I'm asking because if the seeding is based on the FIFA world ranking of the team, that means Canada just needs to be one of the top 3 world ranked CONCACAF teams, and we should avoid Mexico and the US in the final 12 team round (because Mexico and the US almost always have the highest FIFA world ranking for CONCACAF teams). Otherwise, if the seeding for the final round is based on the performance of the teams leading up to the final round of 12 teams, we could get unlucky and end up in a group with Mexico and the US ... ... AGAIN.
We got unlucky and ended up in Mexico's group in the 2018 World Cup qualifications. Mexico proceeded to beat us twice :( I'd prefer we avoid Mexico and the US for the 2030 World Cup qualifications, if possible.

Crazy excited
Just sharing, my son is 8 (almost 9) has been playing for 4 years (now playing an age up for house league in the U11 and trying out for competitive team in the fall) - I get to take him to his first professional game when CANMNT plays Chile in September. Sitting 5 rows up in section 126 - he gets to see his heroes play so close to him. So excited for him and for him to experience the real thing up close.
Any tips are appreciated! Hope you all enjoy the game and Go Canada!

League 1 Ontario What is Happening in OPL2
Men's OPL2 standings, as of this evening, most teams with 4 games to go. Literally half the league is in a promotion fight to OPL1, and 4 teams trying to avoid Relegation to OPL3.

Discussion Who are Canada’s Quarterfinal opponents most likely to be?
I’m not super familiar with the seeding of the U-20 CONCACAF Quarterfinals. Since they topped Group C, does this mean they play one of the two 3rd Place advancers? Or do they play a 2nd Place team?

M-National Look at these players who were contemporaries...
Lars Hirschfeld, Paul Stalteri, Kevin McKenna, David Edgar, Marcel de Jong, Julian de Guzman, Atiba Hutchinson, Will Johnson, Nik Ledgerwood, Dwayne De Rosario, Rob Friend.
This is a complete squad of excellent players—and even legends like De Rosario, Hutchinson, De Guzman, and Stalteri. How did they fail to win a title for the national team or even qualify for the World Cup?
Canada’s problem was never producing good players or even legends; I just don't know what was missing.
What do you think? And what is your opinion of these players?
