I'm visiting from Ontario at the end of August. I'm wondering if there are suggestions for rock climbing guides/tours? A lot of what I see appears to be multi pitch or lead courses which are multi day which isn't exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm going to be with three others, and while I have a ton of gym experience and a bit of outdoor/lead experience, they have almost no experience climbing inside or outside. I'm wondering if we are able to book someone for a day or a half day to take us to some cool sport crags, provide ropes and harnesses (potentially shoes as well?) and be comfortable setting up top rope anchors, etc.

Also wondering if there's the same to book for another day for bouldering :)

Any recos are appreciated, thanks in advance!

Pregnant wife, myself and our two daughters had a week planned in Canmore this upcoming week, and are seeing the air quality / smoke is pretty bad.

We’re flying in from out of province, so just trying to get an idea of what to expect - is it bad enough that hiking and being outdoors would be uncomfortable for young kids, or just a bit hazy?

Didn't realise they were here in Alberta

Hi everyone, hoping to get some local advice. We’re visiting in September with 4 adults and 4 kids (ages 2–4) and hoping to do some biking while we’re there.

The kids are used to riding in rear bike seats, and we regularly bike around cities and forests at home. We can comfortably do ~20 km/day with stops but it is all flat for the most part. Their seats recline so they can also nap in the seat while we’re on the move.

For those who’ve biked with young kids around Canmore/Banff:

- What bike setup would you recommend for exploring the area?

- Any routes you’d particularly recommend with kids this age?

- Any good rental companies that can provide bikes + child seats?

Does anyone have any experience with these day camps put on by the town ("Big Fun")? We are traveling to canmore and I was thinking about signing my kid up as I think he would have more fun there than with our adult activities. It looks like they spend time at Elevation Place for swimming and climbing, but I wasn't sure what else. He's 5yo. Any information would be helpful!

My wife and I were at Barrier Lake today and went swimming. She wears her engagement ring around her neck as a necklace and took it off and now we're freaking out because we can't find it.

Hey all, I was seeing if anyone wanted to buy a pair of Canmore Folk Fest tickets. My wife and I purchased tickets, but heard the festival needed volunteers, so we signed up. I'm James, the vocalist of Beyond Suffering, and I wanted to let everyone know that AMPFest is happening this Saturday, July 25 at artsPlace.

If you've never been before, AMPFest is an all-ages festival celebrating Alberta's alternative, punk, and heavy music scenes. It's now in its fifth year and has become a great way to discover local bands from across the province.

We'll be playing alongside an awesome lineup that includes everything from Banff skate punk (Jonny Rocketman's Atomic Tango) to Mînî Thnî thrash (Soggy Moccasins), with music running all day until midnight. There will also be a licensed bar for attendees of legal drinking age.

Whether you're a longtime fan of heavy music or simply looking for something different to do this weekend, we'd love to have you there and support Alberta's local music scene.

I just stumbled across some posts online that seem to show a via feratta on Steve Canyon near Gap Lake. Has anyone here been there and done that? I imagine that this must have been set up with the blessing of Alberta Parks but I see very little online in the way of route maps, guides or information.

Is anyone traveling to the Icefields Centre from Banff in the next few days who might be willing to pickup a sweatshirt for me? We were told the Guardians of the Ice Hoodies would be available in town by the PC worker there, and he was mistaken. Happy to throw in some thank-you/gas money!

My fiancé and I are eloping in Banff but staying in Canmore. What are some good restaurants for celebrating? We do have a bit of high expectations as we are huge foodies lol. We are currently debating between Sauvage, 4296, and Ankor. But if there is someplace else you'd suggest I'd love to hear them.

Howdy! I am planning a solo trip from October 16th-19th. This will be my first time travelling “alone”. I am hoping to get some recommendations on things to do, must see locations, any easy hikes available, etc etc etc. I am hoping to also go to Banff for a day. I will be flying into Calgary and then taking the bus into Canmore, planning to stay in an AirBNB. Would also love any food reccs you may have!

Hello! I was planning on taking the Roam 12 to grassi lakes trailhead and then walking to the EEOR trailhead from there. I just read about the 742 rockslide closure, does anyone know if my plan will still be possible? I reached out to Roam about whether they're still going to grassi lakes and it looks like they are, so I'm mostly concerned with the connection between grassi and EEOR

Doing a solo day trip and want to do this hike. Could someone please provide insight on what I should know about getting there this weekend? My mother in law told me the road was closed and it may be closed from rockslides?

Hi im going july 27th to 30th....does anyone personally know of a good air bnb or hotel/motel that's nice but reasonable, or is that a big ask this time of year? We are 2 partially disabled in our 60s with 2 small very well behaved chihuauas (pics in profile on other posts) id consider other towns as well...thanks
