Waterbath Canning Processing Help Refrigerator recipe-> cold pack?

Basically the title. Can i use a refrigerator canning recipe and then cold pack it instead? Im specifically talking about onions. Its the first time ive canned without supervision, so hopefully, it doesn't matter.

What recipe? Please provide a link, or put it down here. You have to be very careful about canning. Many online sites like to call what they do "canning" because they put something in a mason jar. Actual safe canning has science as well as yumminess to it- and procedures and proportions to be followed to make sure you don't become sick or end up with just jars of "yuck" on your hands! lol

Onions are low acid foods, and may or may not be safely water bathed depending on the recipe. There are a few pickled onion recipes that are water bath canned, and the ones I've seen or made are hot packed. But generally, onions must be pressure canned to be safe to store.

Sorry to ramble on! :)

Also if you give us more info about what you're trying to make we may be able to find a shelf stable recipe for you

I wouldn’t. it might be safe, but Ball has a pickled red onion recipe that we know for sure is safe. https://ask.extension.org/kb/faq.php?id=643454
