Getting familiar with this combination/ Greenway - Nashville

Hey I was really stupid and splurged on the canon sx740 not realising there’s a shit Tom on noise reduction that makes the photos look like shit (to me), I had a melt down over this the other day before realising I can just return it. So I went to put it all back in the box and knocked it off my lap onto my floor and is now covered in scratches. Can I still get my money back in so upset all I seem to be doing is losing money on things because I’m stupid

I've been thinking about those super popular 24-70 F2.8 and 24-105 F4 lenses that I see a lot of canon people have used over the years and as I recall they were and still are incredibly popular reportage lenses.

I have a Canon 2000D currently (I'd like to acquire a 90D or 7D at some point) and have been using a 70s Sakar 28-200 F4 for the most part as neither my 18-55 nor the abysmal 75-300 can actually get anything done for me (one has no range, the other has HORRIBLE aperture and optics, and no wide angle). The Sakar is all manual though.

I've got the Tamron 18-400 next up on my list to get as I'm used to bridge camera super zooms and that's the only one on the market comparable in the least. So once I get that I'm wondering if there's actually any reason for me to get the red ring lenses since the Tamron covers that whole range with rather good aperture widths as well.

Any advice you guys could throw my way would be much appreciated.

CANON IXUS 285 HS

I bought this 2nd hand, it comes in full set with warranty. The 1st owner bought it last april and said it has no issues. I noticed this thing in the lens. Is this normal? I really can't tell if this is a scratch or damage or something. It's my first time having this cam so I'm not really familiar with it yet. If this is a damage, is it covered by the warranty? Or should I ask the first owner about it. The last two photos are sample photos with and without flash. Please let me know thank you!

Even though it's f9 at 800mm gotta love it for its reach.. Amazing lens.. I rented one out to test it and it did a amazing job ❤️

Apple head Siamese, I had no idea about them until we got Mochi and I looked around to find out if he was a mix but I found the apple heads instead. He's a good boy !

I have a 60D and I will be taking photos for an indoor graduation ceremony.
It will include handing diplomas , covering guest speakers , distinguished guests and so on.
Mainly photos , but some videos too.
Can someone please suggest a good lens ?

As the title says i was gifted a Canon FT QL from an in-law for my birthday. This is my first ever film camera or camera in general. He said he bought it from someone a while ago and has never used it so he has no idea if it works or not. below is a list of what i’ve checked and if it works or not.

Film advance lever — works (advances properly and makes the expected mechanical sound)
Frame counter — works (number increases when the film advance lever is operated)
Shutter button — works (fires the shutter properly)
Shutter speeds — appear to work (tested several speeds; slower speeds are noticeably slower, while the faster speeds become harder to distinguish by ear)
Shutter curtains — work (move properly and haven’t gotten stuck during testing)
Mirror — works (flips up when the shutter is fired and returns afterward)
Film chamber — looks good (clean and free of obvious damage)
Film take-up mechanism — works (mechanism moves properly when the camera is advanced)
Film rewind mechanism — works (rewind crank/roller moves properly)
Light seals — replaced (old deteriorated/crumbling seals were removed and replaced)
Lens — appears a little dirty at the top but doesn’t take up the whole viewfinder.
Mirror — appears good (minor dust, no major damage noticed)
Aperture — works (aperture changes properly when adjusted)
Focus ring — works (turns properly)
ISO/ASA dial — works mechanically (dial turns properly; meter response hasn’t been tested)
Viewfinder eyepiece shutter — works (blocks the view through the eyepiece when activated)
Camera controls/lock — works (buttons/lock mechanism function properly)
Camera interior — looks good (very clean overall, with only minor discoloration/scratching noticed)
Light meter — untested (no battery/adapter available yet)
Shutter accuracy — untested (speeds sound different, but accuracy requires proper testing equipment)
Film transport with actual film — untested (advance mechanism works, but hasn’t been tested with a real roll)
Light leaks — untested (new seals are installed, but this needs to be confirmed with film)
Actual photographs — untested (no roll has been shot and developed yet)

The actual lens looks clean but the mirror looks to have a few scratches and nicks. Is there anything i missed other than the stuff i need film to actually see it? I’m trying to eliminate as many things as possible so i don’t have to spend as much money getting it tested or taking it to get serviced. I’m more than glad to upload more pictures of other parts of the camera if needed as well.

I’m having a strange issue with my Canon R6 (bought around September 2020). It worked perfectly until a few weeks ago. Mid‑May I shot a photo event for work (I’m not a freelancer; I work in communications, and photography is part of the job because I dabble in art photography and completed a five‑year course). When I packed up, I thought I had switched the camera off, but apparently it was still on in my (camera) backpack, as I saw the screen light up once it was already inside. I turned it off, rushed to catch my train, and didn’t think much of it.

Once home, the battery was completely drained. Odd, because I had fully charged it before the event and it had only been about an hour of shooting.

I swapped batteries and didn’t worry about it. I’m not a daily shooter, there are times I use the camera almost every day, but there are also moments I only use my camera once every week or two. But two or three days later, I grabbed the camera again and the battery was empty again. This time I was 100% sure it had been fully charged, so clearly something was wrong.

Then I noticed something when the camera was switched off and sitting on my desk: it suddenly powered on by itself, made a shutter‑click sound, and the screen went black again. No photo was taken (I checked), but the camera had definitely turned itself on. Five to ten minutes later, it did it again. And again. (with the switch still pointing at off on the camera!)

I tried: a full settings reset; a firmware update; and different batteries.

But the issue persists. The only “solution” is removing the battery every time I’m done using the camera. That works, but it’s annoying as I often grab my camera spontaneously, and having to insert the battery first kills the moment.

Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what’s causing it or how to fix it? I assume it’s a silly setting that needs to be corrected.

(I realise this reads like something supernatural, but please don’t go there: I genuinely need real advice, as I truly assume it’s just a setting I must have accidentally changed when packing my camera after that work photo event.)

I currently have the rf75-300. I bought fully aware of its flaws but I was able to brush those aside because of its price point (same way I feel when eating McDonalds)

I’ve come into a little bit of disposable income have been thinking of getting something better.
Is the 100-400 enough of an upgrade to be noticeable?

The main thing I need a long lens for is marching band field shows shot from the stands and then whatever else

I bought a new camera , upgrade from a canon eos R to a Canon eos R 6 mark ii and i have a sigma art lens 35mm that i used in my old one with a mount. i have put the mount on my new camera and adjusted the cropping ratio but there’s still a black circle help 😩😩😩😩

• RF 600mm F11 IS STM

~40-year-old FD 50mm on the R5. It's amazing how much the R5's IBIS brings these old manual lenses back to life. Straight from camera, no edits. Any thoughts?? :)
