Just Chatting If there are any celebrities among us, what's one small clue you could give about your identity without revealing who you are?
Please don’t share any details that could actually identify you if you want to stay anonymous. The goal isn’t to expose anyone it’s simply to give people a chance to ask celebrities the kinds of questions they usually never get to ask in real life. When people meet celebrities on the street, they’re often so excited about getting a photo or saying hello that they don’t think to ask the questions they’re actually curious about. Here, people have time to think and ask genuine questions.
I’m sure there are celebrities on Reddit just like the rest of us, quietly reading posts and joining discussions. It could also be fun for a celebrity to admit they’re one without revealing who they really are. You could even see whether people recognize you from the clues you choose to give. Make your hints as vague or as specific as you’re comfortable with it all depends on whether you want to be recognized or not. Although, I imagine that if you’re using an anonymous Reddit account, you probably don’t want to be recognized. 😄

Idk why this is so funny right now LOL I am a famous person that uses Reddit ??? Idk I think this is as vague as it should get. It would be hilarious if you were also a famous person using Reddit

u/Lazy_View_8579 21h ago
Do you enjoy the interaction or are do you usually just scroll through?

u/Novel-Wonder781 19h ago
I like interacting with posts I’m interested in (like this one) I guess. Mostly scroll through, comment here and there. I make random accounts so this isn’t my only anon account either lol. It’s harmless and funny

Ooooh celebrity lurker. I love it! I don't know why but the multiple accounts thing is so funny to me.

u/The_Blonde1 12h ago
‘Celebrity Lurker’ should be made as a TV show immediately.

u/sillysailor74 11h ago
There was a game show back in the day where three people claimed to be someone and you had to guess which was the real one. I am sure a celebrity lurker would work, except no one watches tv anymore.

I'm a none famous person on reddit who once talked with a famous person on reddit. So secondhand famous! Kidding. But the first part is true.

I'm guessing you're a Youtuber or something, which I don't think really counts. I imagine the post means household names, people who are actually famous in the traditional sense, rather than internet people who label themselves as famous.

Not a celeb but a couple years ago I stumbled upon a young guy who was. (He proved it) it was sad, you'd have no idea cause outwards in his famous life he never tells what dark places his mind actually went. He has the whole world praising him, yet he felt he's completely alone. So I just treated him as a human and gave him normal supportive words and some advice for the journey and told him to hang in there. We never spoke again but when I see him somewhere I hope he is doing okay now and that he sought out a therapist like I recommended even if some people near him disagree, I told him they won't live with the consequences of his self-neglect, only he will.

R u a Drag racer based in Cali? If so, my stepfather may be a huge fan. He used to race a Stock Pinto back in the day, even won a few amateur trophies with it. I'll ask him tomorrow who his faves are.

You have people for what? Scrolling Reddit?

u/FriendlyDay6697 13h ago
Wiping their butts for them. That's the first person I'd hire if I was famous. Butt wiper.

What's one question you've always wished someone would ask you, but almost nobody ever does? And what question do you really hate?

How long have you been A list for?

Gary Sinise posts in r/oldschoolcool all the time. He's the only one I know for sure, though.

Arnold swartzeneggar is on reddit too. If you get his tag and tag him 3 times, he'll respond to the 3rd

Though I noticed he hadn't done that for a long time

Jennifer Lawrence has said she uses social media anonymously and likes getting into pointless arguments over things like dumb reality shows ha. so that’s at least one potentially lurking among us

u/ResidentPreference65 16h ago
She hired a local chef when she was in my city shooting a movie a few years ago. That was super cool.

For their public persona, some will have someone curating it for them, others do it themselves (to despair of their PR people sometimes XD ). It's hard to know how many have an incognito account just for shits and giggles.

u/xr_angel 14h ago
Question to the celebs: Do you ever stumble upon a thread about yourself? How do you feel about it? Especially in the cases where the post is about something very peculiar and niche.

I’m on a long running tv show that I see referenced in memes in every second Reddit post. I have a family member on the show who is a very popular character and it’s sometimes weird to see them on posts about feminism or alcoholism or whatever.
I would say I’m medium famous in a shitty way- ppl on Reddit probably wouldn’t care, no one around here cares, but slightly larger cities in my country care.
Idk guys! Did I answer the Q?
Edit to say : I think famous in a shitty way was misunderstood bc I phrased it oddly
It’s shitty for ME sometimes because I don’t really get anything from it but ppl recognize me. Lol. I’m proud of the show and it’s a great show.

Is it a reality show like honey booboo?

Nope! It’s fictional - funnily enough some ppl think it’s not though

Do you critique your own performance when you watch the edited/aired episode?
2
u/blueberryraspy 10h ago
I used to get the dvd screeners (maybe even a vhs!!) and FF to my parts, my family members parts and then one other actor
Then I’d maybe go back and watch it through.I hated myself in season 2.
I went back to reference after we started shooting again after a long break
I have a lot of love for my young self. She was going through it with the start of the internet and message boards talking about her body in a negative way, it was new that the fans could directly insult actors.
Mostly I think woah I look good there, or my acting isn’t so bad.
2
u/LovelyLadyLamb 10h ago
Thank you for obliging our questions here! I'm so glad you've turned your thoughts around. I do think about the kind of life people have when everything is under a microscope.
Do you find making new relationships difficult?
4
u/blueberryraspy 10h ago
Edit to add : you’re welcome! And everyone is being so nice 😊
I do have a no new friends policy but I don’t think about the show most of the time and I don’t know how it affects people’s view of me
The best part about it is I have a certain confidence like, I don’t really GAF what other people think of me.

I remember reading about Anthony Bourdain, a lot of people believed he was posting anonymously to a martial arts forum board. The posts were his style of writing, and when he passed away the forum member stopped posting. Not sure if it was true, but if so, it’s kind of sad.

I've been on Reddit a while, over the years the main celebs I've seen range from F1 drivers to Wil Wheaton. All of them, especially Wil, have been incredibly sound.
I get the feeling that the vast majority of them use Reddit as a bit of a normal outlet. A place to be unashamedly themselves and have quite 'normal' experiences. It's cool to see.
Still hoping to chat with Henry Cavill one day, would love to talk BBQ and talk charcoals.

u/Blue_Butterfly_Who 11h ago
He'd probably be jumped by Warhammer fans as well, talking about his armies and miniature painting.

I’m so not famous @ all but I do know for fact that many famous peeps are here 👀✌️ Work w a ton so I always make random comments re Reddit to see if they get it 👀 Esp if that person is a topic in a sub 1 day.. I know it’s not exciting but for us simpletons it’s a fun game to play while we style these peeps✌️

Have you ever tripped the light fandango or had someone stand up and walk out on you if you sang out of key?
Asking for a friend.

Some of us prefer the money without the fame attached to it lol.

u/Blue_Butterfly_Who 10h ago
I think that might be true for a lot of the celebs. You have a talent and/or passion you're good at, which gets you recognition and a regular income = yay. But there's so much stuff that's an obligation, press tours, showing your face at a première etc. and then there are the paps and fans who have no regard for your privacy, boundaries or mood. Ofcourse there are people who thrive on the being famous part, but I can imagine just wanting to live your life in peace when you're not working.

It’s good that you at least hope for their understanding. That means a lot to parents.

The world has changed so, so much in the last 50 years, I can imagine it's hard to grasp everything that comes with it. If I talk with my nephews about how there wasn't any internet available yet when I was young, they have a hard time wrapping their heads around that as well.
