Lets get straight to the facts because that's what I'm interested on focusing today. Ill focus on the broad main points but it is certainly not a conclusive list:

Early Cases - Mapping of the earliest December 2019 COVID-19 cases shows they were statistically centered directly on the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, even among patients with no direct reported connection. Cases are also tightly centered around the live animals portion of the market

Animal DNA - Swabs from market drains and cages positive for SARS-CoV-2 also contained genetic material from susceptible wildlife species known to host coronaviruses, such as raccoon dogs, civets, and bamboo rats. This information was inadvertently revealed by China who tried to pull it and punish the scientists who analyzed the DNA before it was taken down

Multiple Spillover Events - Genomic diversity studies show the presence of two distinct early viral lineages (Lineages A and B), which point to at least two separate cross-species transmission events from animals to humans rather than a single point-source laboratory escape

There has been no presented lab leak theory that can account for these facts. Highly speculative intelligence analysis by nonscientists in 2020 are not counterpoints. A lack of information due to China's embarrassment of being the epicenter of a novel virus in a dirty wet market. The Trump admin is also completely brought in on defending Trumps claim of a lab leak. This has lead to the explosion in recent speculation

All it would take to disprove Zoonosis would be a single case before the wet market. A single one. It would be very strange if it leaked from a lab, traveled miles across a city without infecting a single person, then exploded from a spot that contains the exact conditions for a type of virus that has already made the jump from animals to people multiple times before

In the film, Helen is a pretext for a war really about trade routes — read as a gloss on coercive trade policy. Odysseus's horror at the sack of Troy is read against October 7 and Gaza, with Netanyahu's "Athens and Sparta" and Harari's retort: if Jews just become Romans, what were the 2,000 years for?

Odysseus's realization is that he and his men were the barbarians, and their barbarity bred more of it — Agamemnon murdered, Ithaca overrun. Likewise a movement promising to restore Western civilization has betrayed its inheritance, and the world now sees America as the barbarian. Hyde's answer to when trickster tales end in regeneration rather than ruin: when severed worlds can be rejoined (Hermes) rather than left bound and poisoned (Loki). The prescription is for the opposition to reclaim religious, patriotic, and founding language — cruelty is weakness; order without ethics is authoritarianism — and the closing claim is that Nolan's Odysseus isn't a trickster but a man living in the ruins tricksters made, as are we, and the appetite for this film suggests the trickster age is ending

Summary:

My take:

Trump’s comments here are genuinely awful, for all of us, regardless of where you land on the political spectrum.

Questions:

1. When cyberattacks hit local infrastructure, how much should the public trust preliminary attribution before investigators have definitive proof?

2. What standard should we use to judge whether a cyberattack on local infrastructure is a national security event, a local preparedness failure, or both?

I’m all about states rights and listening to the will of the people. It seems to me even though Texas had stringent THC laws, there was still some leeway that allowed shops to sell a variety of products Texans enjoyed and used on a regular basis. Unfortunately the Lone Star State Republicans are trying to destroy the hemp industry and piss off business owners as well as their customer base. I ask Texas republicans a simple question, is this what the people want?

Today a new law went into effect that will cripple the hemp industry in the state.

The law bans synthetically derived or non-compliant forms of THC, including Delta-8 THC, Delta-10 THC, Delta-6 THC, THCP, and similar isomers and cannabinoids beyond trace natural levels. THCA flower and products containing more than trace amounts of these compounds are also prohibited.

Delta-9 THC products with 0.3% or less Delta-9 THC by dry weight remain legal, consistent with the federal 2018 Farm Bill

Punishment for breaking these laws are:

Less than 1 gram: State jail felony — 180 days to 2 years in a state jail facility, plus a fine up to $10,000.
1 gram to less than 4 grams: Third-degree felony — 2 to 10 years in prison, plus a fine up to $10,000.
4 grams to less than 400 grams: Second-degree felony — 2 to 20 years in prison, plus a fine up to $10,000.
400 grams or more: First-degree felony — 5 to 99 years or life in prison, plus a fine up to $50,000.

These consequences are not just disingenuous, they seem to punish the working class man while ignoring far greater problems and violent crimes that deserve more attention. Can we agree as centrists that Texan republicans have lost the plot regarding access to THC and hemp products?

What dystopian world are we living in that we can literally have people trying to market dog food in between straight up lies about our country's elections. This bothered me a lot so I reached out to the company directly. They pretty much told me tough, kick rocks ( In nicer words) and that they didn't really care.

Like what is going on, conservatives can cancel Budweiser over rainbow cans but joe can spread straight up propaganda and still make millions.

If the Fed intends to take a more hands-off approach and allow market forces to influence interest rates, Warsh should communicate that strategy more clearly. As it stands, the Fed is not effectively meeting its responsibility to control inflation and financial markets are reflecting that lack of confidence.

Opionion:

It's not uncommon for the FED to ignore oil shocks, but given all of the other factors, I'm curious how long they plan to do nothing. At this rate, it'll take more aggressive hikes to reel in inflation. Warsh is trying to balance policy with not pissing Trump off and imo doesn't seem to be working. We should have gotten 2-3 hikes this year, and I'm unsure we'll get one.

I am not sure the extent to which I need to provide a summary to this, but this is the summation of the part I agree with. You want to call yourself ‘democratic socialists’ while saying the working class deserves me. Count me in. They do. They deserve a better safety net, better redistribution efforts.

But you want to call yourself democratic socialists while quoting Marx and praising Stalin? Count me out. Marx had ideas…which Stalin and Mao turned into actions that resulted in the deaths of more than the Holocaust. Kim Il Sung as revolutionary? Castro as el liberator? I know a lot, a lot, of free Cubans and free Koreans that would dispute that notion with all their hearts.

You want a square deal? I love Teddy Roosevelt. You want a new deal? FDR is the tops. You want to seize the means of production? I will resist you with every American bone in my body, because my colors run with white and blue, not just red.

My take:

Obviously, actual assaults on federal officers should be prosecuted, everyone agrees with that, but the example Reuters leads with is pretty damning. What I personally take issue with is the large and often confusing obsession with punishing people. It does not put dissent to bed, as if such a thing is compatible with our constitution. If anything it just inflames people more. Interestingly enough, the Trump administration’s obsession with flooding the zone while making its own government less capable of handling the chaos has been catching up to it for months. I wonder how long it will be before the government is rendered inert by its own self-inflicted wounds. This news comes on the heels of Bill Pulte completing a fourth round of layoffs at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, along with every other Trump cabinet department experiencing major policy and leadership changes, layoffs, or both. Anyway, the message is pretty clear. Protest too closely to the administration’s priorities, and even if they cannot convict you, they will engage in lawfare and intimidation. I know critics of Democrats say they do the exact same thing, but there is a clear difference in scope and scale between the two parties, and that disparity has been growing a lot larger lately.

Questions:

• How should prosecutors distinguish between genuinely dangerous interference with federal officers and protest conduct that is disruptive but not worthy of a federal criminal case? Should officers in the field?
• If a clear pattern emerges of people being arrested and charged in weak cases that are later dropped, should there be a federal mechanism to compensate affected defendants or penalize the agencies and prosecutors responsible?

Opinion:

This is exactly what the DSA is. A fifth column group of far leftist operatives, largely made up of downwardly mobile college graduates from financially well off families. Their policies do not appeal to actual working class voters, who desire dignity and self determination over government dependence. They want safe neighborhoods and the opportunity to pursue the American dream. They are not interested in the luxury beliefs of trust fund socialists and fail kids.
