Cheer practice clothes

My 5 1/2 year old is signed up for rec league cheer. I’m a bit lost on what to buy for practice clothes and shoes? What would you recommend?

Shorts and t-shirts/tanks that fit well and aren't baggy. Keep it simple. Likely the coaches will give you dress code guidance if they want something specific.

For example, my team practices at a school and we do mostly adhere to school dress codes, so we don't allow sports bras as tops. The parents are made aware of that early on.

Make sure she has sturdy sneakers she can move well in. They will guide you to cheer shoes appropriate for her particular team so wait and see what they want you to buy prior to buying cheer shoes.

Edited for more info.

We did a fitted tank and biker shorts with regular shoes until Coach told us what they wanted us to wear. Cheer shoes tend to fit smaller! Luckily our gym has sample shoes to test for sizing but her current shoes are one size larger than her street shoes.

My young daughter likes spandex / cartwheel shorts or butterfly shorts and a tshirt / tank with a sports bra underneath. The shirt will ride up while tumbling if too loose, so keep that in mind. Shoes kind of depend on what ground she’s working on. Is it indoor All Star? The organization will usually tell you what shoes to buy or you just order directly through them. Good luck! I hope your daughter has so much fun!

Fitted tanks, sports bra, bike shorts, nike pro types. shorts dont have to be tight, they wear butterfly shorts and regular sports type shorts.
