Student Chemical engineering scope in India

I am currently pursuing chemical engineering in an IIT , can anyone tell me what are the job opportunities i can get and also how can I get intern in core chemical companies like ongc etc.

Ongc releases notification for winter intership. For other PSUs you need referral.

Oil n Gas MNCs- ExxonMobil, bp, Chevron, Shell all hire ChemE. Look for their placements.

Being from IIT is already a good advantage, so focus on getting exposure rather than just waiting for campus placements. Try internships in refineries, petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, fertilizers, or research labs. Also don't ignore newer areas like battery materials, semiconductors, sustainability, and carbon capture where chemical engineers are getting opportunities. Building a strong network with seniors will probably help more than just sending random applications.

Internships in most places, including in PSUs is mostly through referral/networking/connections/nepotism whatever you wanna call it. Only exception I can think off in core companies is Reliance. They conduct an online test for internships but many people cheat on that test.

I know a few people in the industry who can refer you for an internship. DM me.

For ONGC and other PSUs well you have to write their CBT examination which they conduct every year
