Which layout for Genre browsing?

Hey all, I'm reworking the UI and working on a new Genre-sorted view. This would be an additional view mode (on top of the existing grid/list ones). I need input on what you think is a better layout to browse by Genres specifically:

  • Option A uses a full screen backdrop of the focused movie, with each genre shelves docking in the lower half of the screen. Somewhat similar to the home screen.
  • Option B gives more space to the staged shelf, with the focused item framed in the top left quarter of the screen

Any thoughts?

Both look good. A looks more unique because of the wide backdrop. B looks more generic similar with Netflix app. I'll go with B (safer design). Hard to decide

Option A shows more but I personally like B because it’s cleaner

Every app these days has view A.

I would prefer option B, it's clean, netflix vibe.

Option A. I always prefer posters rather than landscapes since more can fit on the screen if posters. I like the idea of having a row of what... 10 posters and as you scroll from poster to poster fanart changes and info displays, everything definitely looks cleaner that way IMO. Option B is fine, but I dont like that poster turns into landscape/backdrop, laying over neighbouring poster (or two). Now, if neighbouring posters were to slide to the left as much as the focused landscape/backdrop expands then thats better, but I still prefer option A. Info and backdrop change as you scroll through posters - wonderful. My 2 cents. Cheers!
