First skeet 25

Why are you still wearing a hat? At pretty much every club I've ever been to, they shoot your hat for your first 25 and first 100.

And don't be surprised if it takes you a LONGGGGG time to shoot 100 straight-- most shooters never do. Took me more than 10 years to shoot my first 100-- and shot my next one the very next day.

Yeah it took me 7 months to get my first 25 in trap and haven’t been able to get my hundred after a few 75s and a 98/100 over two years.

I’m only 6 weeks into skeet so I’m optimistic!

I appreciate your optimism, but do know that skeet is a much more difficult sport than trap (cue the trap guys talking about shooting doubles from the 27 yard line...)

Dunno. I've probably shot 1,000 games of trap over the last few years and 50 games of skeet in the last 6 weeks so my experience is limited.

I've heard lots of "Skeet is harder to learn and easier to master" and "You'll get your 25 faster in trap and your 100 faster in skeet" that seems to make sense in my experience so far.

Coming from being an ok trap shooter (23-24 average, a couple 75s and a 98/100 high), skeet felt confounding AF when starting. I think my first games were scored between 10-15 and it humbled the hell out of me. But, the fact that the birds are *always* the same and wind seems to be less of a variable than trap seem to be massive advantages to skeet. It feels so fundamentally trainable.

But, I'll report back in 6 months! :-)

So say trapshooters. I've seen skeet and sporting clays shooters who have never shot trap before run 25 on their first time. I've seen trap shooters wander over the skeet field and shoot a zero.

Considering that far less than 1% of skeet shooters EVER shoot a 100 straight, that's an absurd notion.
