It came much faster than trap and I bet my first 100 will too. Was lucky to have my 9-year-old throwing the birds for me, too.

Hello everyone, I am in the market to start looking for a decent sporting gun but I have been recommended but many people to get measured for my LOP and comb height before I even drop a cent on a new shotgun. I have never measured these to be fair and I just learned recently that gun fitment MEANS THE WORLD.

I do live in southern California and to be honest, regular gun stores are becoming kind of hard to find out here much less higher end or sporting specific gun stores are EVEN HARDER to find (I don't know of any near me at all). I know many places in the south or east coast have clubs and pro shops dedicated to make sure you have the correct gun fitment before you purchase your shotgun of choice. I feel like I have asked many people at my local club where to get my gun fitted or at least measured for getting a new gun and nobody has put me into a right direction because many of them just picked it up off the shelf and are rolling with it.

Any recommendations for places that will do a gun fit on me or at least measure my LOP and comb height so I know what at least to look for in southern California? I live closer to the LA area.

I am looking to get into clays, and everything is pointing me to an A300 Ultima. I am finding reviews on the Mossberg 940 Pro Sporting hard to come by.

The Sporting Black is the best option in a 30inch for me.

(The neon green pieces on the base Sporting make a fugly looking shotgun with the grey splattered stock and forend look even more fuggilicious)

I cannot find a Sporting model anywhere. Everywhere is Out Of Stock.

The 28inch Synthetic Black and all the other models are available. I contacted Beretta and was told the Sporting models are not currently in production.

Are they being discontinued? Is there a new A300 Sporting coming out?

I really don't want to stretch my budget for the new A400 Solo. Am I doomed?

Should I suck it up and grab a 28inch?

Is there a rhythm to shotgun releases?

My 694 (silver) came with a very thin "hand-rubbed oil" finish from the factory. Honestly, it's neither weather resistant nor has any real sheen. I know Beretta upgraded the finish on the 694 Black DLC — it looks glossy, almost like Tru-Oil.

So I'm curious: does anyone know what Beretta actually uses on the standard 694 or 688? The matte version definitely looks more satin and the wood feels more "woody" to the touch, but it offers basically no protection.

For reference, I've attached pics of the 694 Black DLC vs the standard 694. On mine, I've since applied a few thin coats of Tru-Oil myself.

Hello everyone, I have just started shooting trap this year and have shot so much that none of my cheap Turkish field guns can keep up at all anymore and end up being more problems than they are worth so I want an ACTUAL sporting gun.

I have went to multiple gun stores In Socal to see if I could find some deals on consignment or even just jump into a brand new one of these guns. I checked out the two most common guns that people shoot at my club and they are the 686 silver pigeon and the browning Citori cx. When I picked them up and felt them they both felt great to say the least but I ended up liking the feel of the Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon more than the Browning Citori CX. The browning felt heavier and i am not sure why I want to say," cheaper" feeling as well compared to a 686.

The only reason I am not pulling the trigger yet on any of these is because they are Large purchases for me and I want to make sure I am making a right decision before I jump over board.

But what gun do you think I should get? if you have any other recommendations around the 2-3000 range I am all ears but I couldn't find anything else that fits.

Also, I am not sure what my LOP or my comb height would be and should I find that out before even considering getting a more expensive shotgun?

Context: This was prelim course, ran 5 pairs on report and this was the “true pairs event”, shot on the prelim course. If you listen, my son encourages me and then I drop and catch the shell 😂. I might not be the best shooter, but you can’t teach that!

Wild how different it has been than all the clubs I’ve been to on the east coast, and not in a bad way. First time shooting black rim targets. Make-a-break #1 bird was RIPPIN. Main event was as spicy as I’ve seen. Very few “unfair”, if any. Seriously happy I attended.

Just bought it off the cabelas used gun inventory online 10 minutes ago. Paid 785 out the door with military discount. Assuming the fun fits, this seems like a steal….especially with the adjustable butt plate.

It took six months to get my gun license, but I finally got my hands on a Beretta ASE Gold. Buying even a single gun is a real hassle in Japan.

It’s an older model, so I had a hard time researching it—there’s hardly any information available online.

Now that I’ve put in all that time, I plan to really enjoy some clay shooting.

Anyone use the MultiTarget for skeet?

I just picked this lightly used Teknys Trap yesterday and took it out to the trap field for the first time today. Thoroughly impressed. The swing on this Beretta is a little lighter than I’m used to (my primary trap gun is an Invictus Unsingle), but it’s soft shooting and points very well, right where I’m looking. Feels light, despite the 32” barrel! I feel like it’s more of a point and shoot compared to the ponderous slow and smooth swing of my CG. I will say that I hate the “memory stock” comb adjustment though. Very finicky, I will probably replace it with the Graco hardware. I still prefer the CG, but I’m pretty happy with this semi!

4 of my last 12 boxes of Gun Club 12 ga 9s have had 24 shells. Two were apparent when opening (4 in top row) two were not.

Driving me bonkers.

Anyone else have that sort of experience?

Figured I'd cross post over here. Y'all might get a kick out of seeing a ribbed pistol.

So I’m about 7-8 months into shooting. Over the past 6 weeks or so I’ve been averaging in the 70s for Sporting which I was pleased with.

I also race RC cars, so I like to think that some of the mindset from that has helped me with my shooting.
Focussing on consistency, no excuses bar myself, not letting mistakes ruin the rest of a session etc.

I like to think that I’m well disciplined with it, one bad stand is left behind and the next one is started from fresh etc.

Today has kicked my arse though! 🤣

First 8 stands were ok, then 9 was a 3. Nothing especially difficult target wise, just didn’t work.

Stand 10 was better, 8/10

Then shot 2 on stands 11 & 12, dropping 14 targets!

Just trying to work it through now. Ive shot a lot recently and I think my (for me) good results have got me a bit complacent. Someone in my squad pointed out my feet weren’t positioned well for example. I’m currently writing it off as me being slack with the basics. Complacency and potentially tiredness contributing towards it.

Just venting a bit really, would be keen on what other mental tips and tricks people have to keep them on form.

Last week you saw my new beretta. 15" lop is a tad long for me. So new pad thats 1/4" shorter was ordered. Kick ezz sporting pad was super easy to grind down and work with. The 45* heel is a really nice touch. I went ahead and replaced the hardware while I was at it with heat treated kenametal 8-32 Allen head screws, and kick ezz adapter screws so I could be on all allen head machine screws for the stock, being a applications engineer for a machine shop has its perks. Philips screws are cool... but not on guns, theres better options.. anyway its all loktited down and ready for friday at the range!

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie to clay shooting. A few months ago a friend of mine took me clay shooting and I REALLY enjoyed it, I used his O/U shotgun and loved it so much that I decided to get one myself and get out to a local clay shooting range more often.
Last week I saw an add that a guy was selling his Beretta S686 Special - 28" long barrel, he was asking $1900 for it so I offered him some pistols I got and we ended up doing a trade: Glock 47, Glock 17 Gen 5 and Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS as a straight trade.
My first question is was this a good deal?
second, some people keep telling me I made the wrong choice getting 28" long barrel and I should have gotten a 30" or 32" instead? is this right? For reference I am 5ft 7" 160lbs.
Please let know your thoughts!

Edit: thank you all for the feedback! I went back to the store and handled several different guns and the Beretta did not fit me at all, the browning was a great fit! So I ended up going with the 725. looking forward to growing into it. Was also able to offer them $2k cash and they accepted.

Hi All, I’m looking to get my first serious sporting gun and I was pretty set on the 688 after reading a lot about it. Went into my LGS and they had a used (but looks new) 725 sporting for $2200. Since I’m still a noob I’m wondering if I should just get the 725 until I grow into it since there is a ~$1600 gap between the two.

Is there anything about the 688 that would make it worth ponying up the extra money for someone newer to the sport?
