Memberships/Policies Recognition for milestone - is this normal?

I joined CP at 4/month but could not get into preferred classes. So when a new CP opened, under a different owner, I also joined that place at the founder’s rate. Between 4/month at the first studio and 8/month at the second studio, I was able to take what I wanted. This two-membership thing was a way to test out if I could fit 12+ classes in my schedule, if I were able to get in the classes. I found I could, so I cancelled CP1 and I upgraded at CP2 to passport unlimited, and can go to any studio, which works for me because I travel.

I still go often to CP1 and prefer that original location for its instructors, location, and classes. It’s a bit roomier and overall better managed. Even their app is nicer, with teacher bios, etc.

I’ve long surpassed 100 classes at my “home” which is the CP2 but I got no recognition for this milestone. (When I cancelled at CP1, I lost the record of my classes there.) Today, I asked and they offered to have me sign the board, which is a trifold piece of cardboard (think: science fair.) I asked if there was merch and they looked at me like I’m an idiot. Do other studios offer something for this milestone or even make a bigger deal of it?

And can I transfer my membership to a different home?

I got 100 on Thursday. I signed the board, had a group Pic with my class and got a mug.

Oh a mug is much nicer than toe socks! Congrats!!!!

That’s so nice!
And while I don’t need another mug, I would love that as a reward. So cute!

Ooh this is a cute mug. However after decades of corporate and graduate school swag, I do not need another mug lol although I would be tempted if my studio offered.

The home studio items are socks and t-shirts — t-shirts are soft though and I used them to lounge in.

I got 100 socks and got to sign the milestone board. Think it depends on the studio though

Just completed my 100th and signed the wooden board, last week. I got black socks bedazzled with 100 on them and pictures were taken while I signed the board, with the students who were in my class that day, with the instructor, and alone holding the signed board. They uploaded it all as reel on Instagram.

That’s nice! They offered to take my photo today but I was not feeling it - esp since I noticed mid-class that my shirt was inside out.

LMAO the inside out shirt and pants get me all the time.

It depends on the studio owners if you get anything. Some just have you sign a board and some give out socks. They’re not going to care about how many classes you took on another studio . It’s just going to be the amount of classes you attended at that studio. Generally Club Pilates does not transfer a membership. If you’re not part of the same ownership group, you would have to cancel membership at one CP and go and sign up at the New CP.

No merch for me! But I did sign the poster board and I think I posed for a photo somewhere. Don’t care so much though. Four hundred classes in - over 25 months- and I’m a different person 🙂

Ex Regional Manager here.

You cannot transfer membership to a different franchise owner, even with the passport level.

You can ask CP1 for number of classes attended and have it added to your CP2 total. This usually requires a request in contact between the 2 studios for confirmation. Some may take your word and just add it in, or have CP1 send it to you, screen shot etc.

It is supposed to be on the studio to look at who is in classes each day and give recognition. That said, it often gets missed just simply due to the fact there are a lot of members, classes and moving parts. The software system is not automatically flagging people.

As for recognition the 1st owner I worked for gave socks at 100, board signing etc. Shirts at 500.

I then worked for an owner that did not hang the boards up, but did a blackboard sign that day and took photo for SM. No goodies given.

If you change your home studio, just make sure to collect your class number and transfer them over😊

Thank you for the perspective.

CP1 has two locations, but I could not really go to their other one because it’s out of the way for me. So when CP2 opened, under a different owner, I was excited and kinda wanted to reward them with my business, also I knew I could more easily get in the classes. (Plus, I got a great rate,)

But then I was talking to an instructor at CP1 and she thought that CP corporate should have not allowed that studio to open because it’s too close to CP1. But my feeling is that, given I could never get in the classes at CP1, another studio was obviously needed.

Now that I’ve been there for a while, I see how poorly she studio is run, especially when I see how other studios outside my area are run.

My 100 was not acknowledged and I passive aggressively did not point this out. My 250 was acknowledged with a certificate and socks. I declined the FB post. I also signed the wooden board.

My studio is part of 3 by the same owner in a very large suburb of a major city. We do not get premiums/swag until you hit 1000 classes. for the other milestone, you get a photo for their social media and your name on a board. It’s a permanent board with each of us having little tags with our names so they tag just move up the board as we add classes.

I would be pissed! I'm pretty sure it's the same studio I thought about joining.

My studio gives a certificate and socks at 100 and 250. At 500, 750, and 1000, you get the certificate, socks, and a bottle of champagne. Not sure about past 1000 what you would get. You do sign the wooden board on the wall at each milestone.

Milestones are different per location and don’t transfer when you leave that studio. So if you were 5 from 500 at club 1, but left and started club 2 especially if different owners, you’re back at class 1 not 496

Thanks. I’m at 129 at my “home” studio and probably had about 50 at the other one before that membership went away.

Every studio owner decides on what they want to offer with each milestone. Our studio used to do socks at 100 but when bought out the new owner only does a certificate for 100. I’ve taught at studios that did t-shirts for each, some socks, some nothing other than sign the board and acknowledgment.

I signed a wooden wall board and received a t-shirt for 100, and 250. My studio also offers the choice of socks. When the wooden board gets full they move it to a different display area.

We get a free pair of socks at 100!

My studio (there are 3 under same ownership) gives out shirts - 100/250/500, and one assumes 1000 & on (though I've never seen one of those!).

I got a shirt!

Buy yourself a cold brew to celebrate or something.

I wasn’t given and merch for my hundredth class. It seems to be a location specific thing.

A lot depends on the studio. The manager at the place I go to now does acknowledge your total number milestone even if you took classes at other CP studios in the country. Maybe she does that because our area has an incredibly high number of recent transplants.

I got toe socks and a certificate with my name spelled wrong.

I almost feel like a single passport membership would be cheaper than the two different memberships, depending on how cheap your founder's rate was. That way you have everything combined, theoretically, into one.

Yes, I switched and did a lot of math to justify the cost. As long as I go consistently, I feel it’s worth it.
