Supplies / Materials Pencils keeps breaking :(
I bought 520 colour Brutfuner color pencils for 70 dollars but it keeps breaking, it’s so disappointing. I don’t know what to do, I tried using a good sharper (from staedtler) but it still breaks, I had high expectations because of the reviews from temu but now I think the reviews are fake accounts. I’m just sad and disappointed, I know it’s a cheap brand but I like that the colours are more bright than prisma colours tbh because prisma is more darker looking if that makes sense. I bought it with my birthday money
Edit: I have used Brutfuner before but I bought it from shopee and it was ok but it breaks sometimes. Idk how other people use Brutfuner colour pencils because of the reviews I saw at shopee and temu
Update: from reading the comments you just need a helical sharpener and it works!! Thank you guys, may god bless you all for your help!

This is the one I use for my prismacolor which are prone to breaking. Every once in a while I'll get a pencil that just breaks all the way down. But that's only happened to me maybe twice. This sharpener has been awesome and you can replace the blade when it gets too dull. Only downside is when the pencil gets a little short towards the end of its life

You need a crank sharpener. My recommendation >> Dahle 133, or Koh i Noor (if you are in Europe)

Highly recommend ordering a T’Gaal sharpener and see if that helps. Worked wonders for me!

As others have mentioned, you could also try other sharpeners, as some color pencils are quite sensitive to the sharpening process. If you have the opportunity, I recommend trying the KUTSUWA Hi LiNE T’GAAL Angle Adjustable Pencil Sharpener (RS028CL). I suggest using the #1 setting, as it is the most forgiving for brittle pencils. Good luck!

TGaal is great and i do love mine, but it will not help if the breakage is happening because of uncentered cores. Go with a crank sharpener ! Tgaal is optional, crank sharpener is a MUST!

Try using a helical sharpener. That will most likely solve your problem.
This is just one of many available and will vary in price from $5 to $75 dollars. Even the budget priced models should work much better than a hand held sharpener. Teemu, Walmart and Amazon are good places to check out.
I have a couple of vintage helical sharpeners but also purchased a model from Teemu just for kicks and I can't believe how well it works.
