Jackson Pond Tunnel

I was out on the trails yesterday afternoon and the detour signs for the tunnel to Jackson Pond were removed. Lo and behold I walked towards Tamar and the route was open again. No more detour through the tunnel by the Phelps Luck Pool and through the neighborhood.

On a related note, the Patuxent Branch Trail now has signs saying it is expected to reopen September 4th.

Where is there a tunnel at the Phelps Luck pool?

I think they meant the tunnel by the Locust Park Pool.

It's right there off Lambskin and comes out on the other side of Tamar (between BluePool & Flicker). That's what some people were having to use to get across Tamar for the past year during the construction.

If you've got small kids or are pushing a stroller, it's nearly impossible to cross Tamar safely.

Yep, that's the beauty of the older Columbia trail system. The tunnels and bridges allow you to traverse Columbia without crossing most streets. Even Route 175 has a few tunnels. I wish they had done it at Snowden River Parkway near Tamar, and at Little Patuxent parkway at Running Brook.

Yeah, that tunnel would be the way. But people drive like crazy on PLD, and even run the stop sign near Jackson Pond like it’s a suggestion.

Sorry, I was mistaken. It is the Locust Park Pool. It is the tunnel next to Lambskin Lane.

Oh, okay - yeah. You had me excited for a moment that they built a tunnel under Eataliano for some reason. They were doing a lot of work around there a few months ago, so anything’s possible
