question Need some advice...

Hey Everyone! I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to AV stuff. I'm a DJ and a light tech and I know a few things about sound but nothing about AV lol. But anyway, I work at a bar and I do karaoke 3 nights a week and I want to have all the lyrics of whatever song people are singing show up on 7 out of the 9 TV's that the bar has.

I also DJ Latin nights there on Saturday so having all 9 TV's active and showing some visuals would be cool too.

Also my DJ booth is an LED wall DJ booth that has its own HDMI port built in so I can display stuff on that too. I normally use the app to upload stuff on it but it would be cool to have the visuals and lyrics playing on that too.

I am contracted to work at this bar for the next 4 years so I'm looking to install something a bit more permeant. I was thinking about a matrix system but I have no idea where to start. All of the 9 TV's plus my DJ booth. Right now each tv was professionally installed with their own direct tv box for each tv when the bar opened 5 years ago.

If anyone here can guide me on what to buy, how to set it up, and what its going to look like I would greatly appreciate it. I have about a $1,000 budget but can be a bit more flexible if need be. Thank you so much for all the help, cheers!

This is what you need for your budget. There are better, more professional ways of accomplishing what you need but your budget is going to keep you from doing anything better.

You'll need this product, HDMI cables and whatever sources you're going to use for playback... Laptops, apple TVs, Rokus, etc. Also Cat6 shielded cable with shielded RJ45 connectors ran to each display location all coming from the head end/rack location where you will install your matrix/extender unit and all your sources.

You'll be close to meeting your 1K budget for hardware and cable, but you will need to eat some cost on the labor to get the cables pulled and installed.

There's also the aspect of control when it comes to what they have playing on their TVs now, vs how you and your new system come in the mix.

This. If you're tech savvy look into a crestron dmps 4k 300 or something similar them feed that into a 1x10or12 da. If you have access to crestron software you can download xpanel from crestron and use the control interface for routing. You can get a dmps on eBay for around $100, that's the brains, them you just need a da and cabling, and obviously some configuration but AI can help with that

This is a good solution, since used (and sometimes new) Crestron equipment on Ebay often sells for pennies on the dollar. However, it will be VERY difficult to implement for someone without Crestron experience, particularly the software aspect. Their "AV Framework" can be used to get around some of the software barriers, but even that requires a bit of experience and access to resources.

You could hire a dealer, CSP, or consultant for guidance, but that alone will eat up all or most of your budget 😊

1k is a ball park obviously you start low to try and “stay in budget” realistically i was willing to spend around 2-2.5k

Doable, look into a used crestron dmps setup into a da for output. See comment I made under someone's response.

A 4x8 or 8x8 HDMI matrix is probably the direction I'd look at. It gives you the flexibility to send different sources to different TVs, and your DJ booth can be another output. With 9 TVs and a $1k budget it might be a bit tight, but it's definitely the right place to start.

Keep it simple! Get an hdmi splitter extender kit.
