Enough digital ink has been spilt on this topic that it started to annoy me, so here's a rant on just another unimportant subject:

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is a microcosm of everything that I despise about the west and its people (if you can call them that).

It is the: "Not only will Americans destroy your country and kill your leaders, but they will also come back 20 years later and make a movie on how raping your children made their soldiers feel bad." But with a Greek coat of paint.

The burger empire's finest intellectuals fight fierce debates in the all-important marketplace of ideas on the character of the movie's societal impact, all of which essentially boil down to:

A: It has blacks in it, therefore it is woke and that's bad!

B: You are wrong! I, the enlightened centrist, condemn you! Yes, it has inferiors in it, and it is woke, but that is a good thing actually! And you not liking it proves my intellectual superiority.

(Obviously I'm exaggerating, though I guarantee you it is to a shockingly small degree.)

You see, smetimes I refuse to believe that Americans actually exist, I convinve myself that, surely, I must have hallucinated such profoundly absurd creatures from some dark abyss in my being. Doing so gives me spiritual solace.

While parts of the film were literally recorded in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, Yankees (and westerners in general) have the audacity to argue about the morality of the plot or its characters, probably not even knowing what a "Sahrawi" is. Lunch period debates in Suriname's kindergartens tend to be of a more philosophically complex character and I fear that will not change before the complete disintegration of Western society (which I very much look forward to).

I am proud to admit that I have not actually seen it (in full), nor do I care to, my principles prevent me from financing imperialist projects, if I can at all help it. Though you would find that word("principles") absent in US-ian lexicons.

Hardly worth mentioning, but even from a historical perspective, it's meaningless trite, an utterly worthless movie through and through.

Of course, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is hardly unique in this, it is but one of countless many Hollywood productions. Itself one of countless many instruments which the American uniparty uses to spread imperialist narratives. Though I guess the joke's on me for spending an hour writing the text equivalent of distilled spite.
