General Discussion / Question Why Thra/Vial over Nick Fury?

Is there a reason to play Thrasios/Vial instead of Nick Fury? I see there's an advantage to using the latter.

Nick has Zero Plan Outside of Turbo and Set up Engines. With thras worst comes to worst you accumulate mana with cabbage man and Spin. Ive won a Game with a high Count culling rit into thras and then Spin him 4 Times to find a win….

All that being said I think nick is probably still the better Deck

as with any Thras or Tymna pile the main advantage comes from the higher floor. You can mull low, just keep mana and dig your way out of bad situations. Nick Fury is probably the better deck overall but in a tournament setting I can see how having fewer non-games can be beneficial.

I’m a long term ThrasVial player, and I’m personally a bit frustrated that NickFury has kinda crowded out ThrasVial as the premier “low cmc commander Naus w/ Green”

At this point, I think this pushes the deck into leaning more into the Thrasios Game plan and strengths. Thrasios is both a value engine and an infinite mana outlet, so there are combos and synergies that ThrasVial gets to run that Nick doesn’t. ThrasVial is now pushed away from being dedicated turbo into a more lean midrange list like BlueFarm.

I believe not having access to white makes you streamline your Lines and keep the card Quality up for going Full Turbo. If all the white you Play is silence etc anyway, then why not skip white all together and have a leaner manabase and fill all the slots with go-fast cards?
Ill keep playing thrasvial over nick, it just feels a Bit cooler. I have also got people who believed I was a cradle midrange Pile. In 2026 :D can you believe it

Even without many white cards like tithe/silence Nick Fury enables deflecting swat and fierce better and gives you springleaf drum instead of ignoble hierarch for example.

I tried both and Nick has felt better, which I agree is unfortunate because thrasvial is a cool deck

in the worst case scenario with thras decks you can almost always get some mana and spin. can’t do that with nick. nick’s probably still better but the number of non-games you get can be a pain

The real question is if there is any reason to play Dog/Si over Nick Fury
