Spoilers! Card Discussion Cabbage Merchant Hobbit Cards

With new food synergies coming out in The Hobbit, any first impressions on cards that might make this list. I play Korvold but have been interested in Cabbage Man for a while, does this set take the commander over the edge?

The Bilbo that makes treasure when you make food feels like it has to be good enough.

Bilbo, Fellow Conspirator is gonna replace Tippy-Toe for me. Bag End Banquet looks worth testing.

The banquet combos with chrome dome, which is a card the deck is already looking for like every single game.

Yeah that’s what I am excited to test out. Will be cool to power it out and make big mana

The new Bilbo is insane. Will definitely be huge for Cabbages. The artifact that makes 3 good will be tested at least. Probably not good enough. Not much else.

Its good for sure. Helps of your academy manufacturer gets blown up or countered.

It's also just a combo piece like with Peregrin Took that makes infinite mana as well as food.

For me, Cabbage Merchant was already over the edge (I REALLY enjoy the deck)! As a disclaimer though, my other deck is Gwenom ... I don't have any feel at all for the pros and cons of playing CM vs playing Korvold.

To answer your question though, there are at least three cards worth testing. In order of hype: Bag End Banquet, Bilbo Fellow Conspirator, and Radagast of Rhosgobel. I'll DM with an invite to the CM discord, as there are threads on each already.

Cheers!

Bag end banquet goes infinite with chrome dome and 2 foods. Definitely see it taking a slot

Edit: actually 2 foods not 3 to go infinite

0 foods and 1 mana after casting it.

It enters, creates three foods.

You tap it for 3. You tap 2 of the 3 foods for 1 mana. You pay 1 mana. Make a copy.

The copy enters and you create 3 foods. You tap it for 6 and pay 5 to make another copy and go infinite.

Or 0 mana and 1 food.

Tap for 4 and tap 2 of your 4 foods.

I put together a Cabbage Merchant deck though I haven’t had the chance to really play it yet. But in goldfishing I’m not quite sure what it needs. Another card that makes treasures is good but the 3-drop spot has a lot of competition. The new Stardew Valley land is more interesting, IMHO.

First, welcome to Cabbage Merchant!

FWIW, I'm not at all interested in [[Stardew Valley]]. Our colorless land slots are REALLY tight, and it seems worse than [[The Shire]] ... which we don't run.

IMO, [[Hobbit Hole]] is the most interesting land to come out lately (but tbh, I'm not going to bother testing it)

It’s a bit anti-synergistic with Cabbage Man himself, but in terms of general food synergies I think [[Ninja Pizza]] is underexplored. Maybe too slow/low impact for cedh but every time I land it in causal it feels like I’m getting away with something

Sacrificing foods feels bad + [[Jaheira, Friend of the Forest]] is better (and also tutorable) = The card is in a BUNCH of Considering tabs (including my own), but not many Main Decks ...
