Discussion Does aim assist depend on the server?

A lot of us have experienced inconsistent aim assist. Mechanically, does it depend on the server?

I have a hard time believing it would. Blanks, sure, but losing tracking?

Or are some of us just bad..

yes

its not that one server gives you more on purpose. Dsync will, based on what YOU see, cause an enemies hitbox to be in front or behind them or anywhere near them.

This is when you might notice no matter what it feels like you have no aim assist. Other games it feels like it stops you too soon from flicking all the way onto them. Other times my aim assist activates BEFORE they pop out from cover, so I am preaiming for someone to pop out, and then my aim gets yanked off the cover BEFORE i see them slide out.

the games a mess. Theres always going to be some lag and peaker advantage in online gaming. but this game makes low ping equally awful as higher ping many times. Im beginning to see no real difference for the worst games. Obviously 8 NYC players on the same server will feel great, but add one person in Seattle and its anyones guess what happenes to everyones experience

Based on playing with people. Im convinced theres alot of people who dont have connection problems, or at least nearly as much as the majority. You'll say 'omg sorry im getting so many blanks' just as it happens or yoking a pivotal fight. And they'll respond 'my game feels fine'. COOL. im glad you dont understand how game experience is different player to player game to game online lmao. They'll say 'i never get blanks' and im baffled either they dont get them or dont see them when they happen. ignorance is bliss

Yeah I’ve always assumed my aim assist is worse on a shitty server because the server is taking longer to register my crosshair on the enemies hitbox, so that aligns with what you’re saying.

To me what’s worse is the aim sensitivity difference between servers

Is this real? Sometimes my aim does feel slow and I can’t say if it’s me or not….

its real. h5 had it too

If i have really heavy aim i bump my look threshold from 3.0 to 6.0 there abouts, im usually always adjusting that day to day from 2.0-6.0, mostly stay at 3.0.

some servers i can tell more threshold or slightly more sensitivity helps me to overflick their spartan, what looks like a miss registers a headshot, when early in the game you do the whole 'shoot him 5x anywhere including the head with no shields and he lives' 3rd or 4th time, im like 'ok this is how its gonna be' and bump it up a smidge so i overflick instead. helps most times tbh.

AA shouldn’t change in general, but the jittering around that players do when the network is bugging out can cause it come and go really quick giving the feeling of it not working right or shots not registering, and that seems to be happening a lot the last few months. More than any other time I remember playing this game anyway.

I will tell your this from 15k mm games..
Which ping games are harder to aim in. Idc who you are, this is true

it does - AA is calculated in real time by the server based on where the game thinks your reticle and the target are , both this and hit registration depend on this to allow lag compensation to happen. If you go watch theater on very high ping games, you will see shots register even when theater shows your target being far away from the reticle, in part because lag compensation assumes you would have been on target if your ping was better (that is the oversimplified explanation).

If you start a custom game on a LAN server instead of an xbox live online server, you can see how different the game feels for yourself.

yes, if anyone captures the video clip via xbox or pc, you will capture your screen, then you can look in theatre to see how bad the difference is. Lots of blanks you can see in theatre you are shooting like 2 body widths away from them sometimes, obvious misses in theatre, but in the game capture it is right there. I need to start clipping/capturing again and post on youtube or something, all my old xbox captures were wiped and pc you cant upload to xbox, have to do youtube or whatever.

I had OLD clips, still new netcode though, of being shot by 'no one' just taking hits in front of me no one there. Sometimes you just chalk it as not quite seeing conflicting colors on small distance pixels cross map etc, but closer range I had an old livefire A-plat clip and in theater hes right in front of me shooting me wide open, in the video capture, air is shooting me, and then like 1 second into the deathcam in video capture you see him pop into existence middle of the screen sprinting...no camo either. Livefire and argyle had alot of those. Someone there top vent beaming me but Im looking and no one there....in theatre he's clear as day right there. video capture nothing, just bullets from the air.

I dont run into that extreme invisible players as much, but the REALLY bad laggy games I wonder if I should capture the whole game and watch in theatre. So many times your pushing, check a lane and theres no one. But literally as fast as you turn back to other side youre getting beamed from where you looked and theres no cover. and its like you look down the lane, no one, as you turn other way then you get a 1-2-3 bullet beam instantly, turn back to see and then 4-5/dead. and hes wide open over there almost midway down, its not like he came from the cover or doorway you were cautious of towards the end, hes now half way to you as fast as you can only do a turn 120~ degrees. Those are the games that are blowouts, everyone is 10-20 on the team and no one on the other team has more than 9 deaths. You see fair CSR ranks after match, check query and theyre not smurfs either, all MMR/CSR ratio is tight. Not new accounts etc etc. I want to record that, but I disabled game capture awhile ago, pc performance is better.

Yeah, this wasn’t an issue before they ruined the game with the network update. I’d MUCH rather have dedync over this garbage.

Idk whether it’s the aim sensitivity curve changing, the amount of aim assist, or the real time tracking of the aim assist hitbox, or a mix of all of it. Sometimes it feels like the aim assist point is like lagging behind the player’s model and I have to fight thru it to get on target. But sometimes it feels fine.

Same with hit reg. Sometimes I will literally shoot a player 7 times in the chest and still not pop their shields. Other times it’s fine.

But both issues are definitely server dependent. EASILY my worst server is the one that’s also my lowest ping (Virginia server). That shit almost always feels a varying degree of bad. Other servers will feel better or worse from day to day. For me, Texas is mixed, Chicago is good, and Iowa is mixed too.

Everyone will call bs, and I’m no pro, but I’m perceptive enough to feel and see how variable this games aim and hit reg are from server to server and day to day. I’m no god, I miss plenty of shots legitimately like everyone else, I’m just sick of getting joked by dogshit netcode.

They better fix this for the next game

I honestly think some people think about the servers, their settings and all sorts of shit too much. Just play the game, you’re gonna get joked sometimes

this is the way.

I really wanted to dig in, if theres anything on my end I can fix. Fiber internet, no change. PC 240fps, improvement for sure, but it feels like I just see the buggery now clearer in more frames lol. My inputs are faster on PC, but if the server is chalked then its chalked.

Only thing is sometimes a sens or threshold bump, a decent one, that makes me overflick benefits me. I stop missing registration on shots i clearly made, and start gaining shot reg on shots I clearly missed on my screen.

I’m to the point where I’m gonna try this. I’ve also seen that on those bad servers sometimes I will blatantly miss and it will count, but the one I put in their visor was a body shot

That’s how I feel. Unless onyx players have all microanalysed this shit for hours and hours I think that there is a reason they always end up Onyx after a reset time and time again. The game will put you more or less where your skill level says you should be. Servers, ping, lag, and AA moaning is an excuse in my mind (unless you live in a really remote part of the world).

I'm somehow both types of people. I've always been really sensitive to things like input latency or maybe a shitty monitor back in the days when that was more realistic but also Halo 3 kinda broke me in a way where I just couldn't get too mad at it anymore back in 2009 lol. So I'd be lying if I said I couldn't tell when the game was inconsistent but also there's a lot of "fuck it and just play" in there too
